Pros

The non-management staff I worked with were absolutely lovely and deserve the best.

Cons

Some of the highlights from my time: - Incredibly low pay compared to other local companies, including those in the same building. Payrises that don't beat inflation, and little to speak of in terms of perks - Patagonia jackets and bags for free for the sales team (and seemingly unlimited budget for whatever else they want), company branded socks for everybody else - Weekly company-wide calls where the C Suites brag about profits - An investment partner tried to enforce an all-inclusive inventions contract addendum (meaning the company would own ideas made in an employee's own time, whether related to the business or not), in exchange for a one-off £100 payment - Buying companies without actually integrating them in any meaningful way - Company would bend over backwards for clients that refuse to use the product correctly, causing other teams to do additional work to support their incorrect usage e.g. dragging heels on firmware updates, customers that did not use the API correctly requiring workarounds, etc - Mandatory out of hours rota for some developers, resulting in evenings, weekends, and early wakeup calls for issues that never required a software developer to resolve - Priority of development work for key projects would shift wildly on a day-to-day basis - Effort to overhaul and rewrite key systems was cancelled, resulting in the company maintaining three distinctly different systems with great overlap in feature set - Company systems are quite different from the norm elsewhere, so skills learned are not particularly transferrable - Terrible diversity, anyone that isn't a straight white man is having a clearly more difficult time at the company. - Multiple diversity initiatives that are just not supported well by the company who took credit for all the work e.g. LGBTQ+ network, IDEA committe, Hispanic Awareness month being a burrito lunch in the office, etc

Great Entry Tech Job

Pros

- Great culture and very nice people - Huge exposure in tech / payments / SaaS - You will learn a lot of info/tools that are used in other tech companies - WFH is optional (Great if you prefer WFH) - Above average Health / Retirement package -Generous PTO - Very nice HQ office

Cons

- Belooooow market pay -High volume of work consisting of several different categories and products - workflow is heavy and disorganized (expect to wear many hats... basically all the hats but only viewed as "support") - Constant bugs/issues of the platform. (Hire better devs & PAY THEM) - Certain products are not even worked on by the devs anymore.. - Enhancements on the application take forever (constant reoccurring issues) - All eyes on profit (very tight budget low pay increases) - Lots of top management has left.

Pros

NMI is great when it comes to fair compensation and perks. The office culture is one where personal growth in your position is taken seriously -- you're also given the tools and conditions to thrive, if you choose to. While the aspect of individual growth is great, the aspects that come from a "Agile and Lean" culture affect the whole, and encourage a healthy, adaptive organism. In other words: you can drink from the waters of NMI without fear of getting poisoned. * Work is very enjoyable * What you do take home with you, generally won't be negative * You are taken seriously as a person, and are viewed as an important member of the team.

Cons

Depending on the background that you come from, you might not always be familiar with the tools at hand, or the version of the tools at hand. This isn't something damning against the company, or work environment, but it is something to take into consideration. As companies expand, so does protocol. So during these times you're definitely going to experience "growing pains". It's a part of life, and as we experience the pains, we adjust. In summation: Don't get discouraged if you feel a bit blank when it comes to learning how to use specific tools, and don't get discouraged by the rate of growth.
