Pros

50% discount was pretty handy. For you and a significant other. Being male though there clothes weren't great. I made some great friends in my time there. The job could be pretty varied too.

Cons

I suppose it depends on the store you're in but if you're not used to the fashion retail environment it can be an extremely two faced, clique based situation. Plenty of backhandedness from above and management level. I had some great team mates but plenty of horrible ones also. same in all jobs tho I suppose. can't please everyone.

Pros

London Head office is a short walk to Oxford Circus, Tottenham court road tube stations. Good location for going out after work, shopping and going out. Office is nice, modern (if a bit overcrowded depending on what floor/ dept you are in.) They run events and sample sales regularly. This is a fast fashion brand, but they do well in there part of the market and have a high number of stores and a good website. Office hours are 9am to 5.30pm M-F, but a lot of people have to put in a lot of extra hours to keep on top of it. Most people have desk top computer rather than laptops, so you see the same people daily in your section. There are some really nice people there, not everyone, but I did not find it a 'bitchy' place on a personal level, I made good friends. I think the pay is ok for a value retailer, just O.K. The extra benefits on top depend on your management level. You get a 50% staff discount, good staff events, such as xmas party.

Cons

Unfortunately there is a culture of blame at New Look. The people in themselves are ok but not easy to actually work with, especially to start with. The staff turnover is very high. The time pressure and work load means no one wants to help, no one steps up or takes responsibility if things go wrong. It is hard to get things done or to get help from people. Generally other departments are unhelpful. The longer staff are there the less helpful they are, this is to stop them getting blamed for something. New Look is the only place I have worked where people don't reply to your emails, never do the things they are tasked with at meetings, ignore you calling them (even if you know they are at their desks) and endlessly require you to book a meeting to ask them anything (which they don't show up to or are too 'busy' to schedule) There are three types of people that get on well working at New Look Head office ,London. 1. People who have been there forever and will never leave 2. Young keen people with no industry experience, so know no different (they do all the work) 3. People who do it the New Look way, no other ideas. New Look is not that keen on working from home, but depends on your manager on how flexible they are. Overall I do not regret working for New Look. I found out what I was capable of and it challenged me in a way I could never of expected, but I would not go back.

Pros

Discount is a good perk

Cons

New Look have put 150 people in their head office at risk of redundancy AFTER sneakily withdrawing their long standing enhanced redundancy policy. When did they announce it? By quietly putting it on the intranet after they’d turned off everyone’s email access because they were on furlough!! Honestly you should be ashamed of yourselves. This employer has no job security and does not care about its people.
