It’s complicated

Pros

I cherish relationships and experience gained through my time with Offline.

Cons

I write this to hopefully help someone who is thinking about applying. Some may see this as a disgruntled employee, but I hope it is shines a light for those who are genuinely curious. Leadership was clearly not on the same page. The direction, clear vision, and transparency that was often marketed to the employees wasn’t there. Friends lost opportunities because leadership didn’t know how much cash was in reserve. I was told from the beginning that we would know the numbers, runway, and any risks. In the summer of 2024 we were all caught off guard when we were told we were in the red. Leadership had a way to spin these numbers as positives but we were all surprised to know that there wasn’t much time to get our act together. Disappointment doesn’t begin to express. This points to the next aspect, we were failing because others were making decisions that didn’t benefit the greater good. Emotionally driven decisions, such as marketing spending to show a life that is not accurate through social media all while months of data showed their strategy was failing. The thing that is annoying here is that the marketing strategy was never challenged and, when people tried to challenge, I feel the ego of those in charge wouldn’t hear it. The data is fact, memberships had dropped significantly, business are seeing little benefit of working with Offline, and this was all reflected in the general morale of the company as a whole. Those decisions were made by people who didn’t know what they were doing and crushed the efforts of those that worked so hard which ultimately led to nothing. That is what hurts the most because so many of my peers worked night and day to ensure that we met our goals where others failed to achieve the bare minimum and were praised and rewarded for it. I’m sad because I believed in the product and I believed in what I was doing. Between the low pay, clear favoritism, and delusion to the reality of the situation, it’s hard not to have a sour taste. I hope those that think this is some flashy company know that not everything is as it seems. I encourage you to ask the hard questions, be diligent, and be honest with what you need to know. I’m stronger for this, but I hope this saves someone from falling into a facade.
