Pros

Working out of LA Cleantech Incubator which is an inspiring space with great collaboration opportunities and an impressive prototyping shop. OnRobot is focused on an interesting industry of robot end of arm tools. Rapidly growing global organization.

Cons

Management tends to micromanage and not treat employees with trust and compassion. Many employees are operating under constant fear and scrutiny if they are doing enough and what management wants. Projects and Priorities frequently getting changed without input from team. One day team is working long hours to accomplish a goal, and the next day that project is cancelled. Company makes purchase and hiring decisions too quickly which end up hurting the success potential. Due to poor planning and management, company spends a lot of money unnecessarily and does not spend on other critical areas. CEO and senior management are overly paranoid and do not treat employees well. As two examples, 1) with over 2 weeks notice I requested to take a half day on a Friday and a half day on a Monday with ample vacation time on my books to travel to a cousin's wedding, but the response that was received from my manager was 'I don't know if I can allow that because we have product launch right around that time'. I shared how my wife and her family would be disappointed if I missed the wedding and he did not care. And, even after I returned my manager still held a grudge about it. And, 2) On my second to last day at the job after I had made many positive contributions to the company including help to facilitate a successful merger and setting up our manufacturing line to build the product, the CEO was in town and I was asked to give him a tour of the manufacturing line. While giving the tour, in front of 4 or 5 other employees he got in my face and yelled at me "You didn't f***ing do your job". I walked off as the GM and many employees apologized and did not know how to respond. I could not understand the justification for his irrational actions to an employee who had made many positive contributions and had respectfully resigned and gave 2 weeks notice.
