Managers salary comes first

Pros

The people working there and the nerdy culture.

Cons

Poor game decisions, rushing releases to make money and then "writing it off" when it fails. Full return to office for no other reasons than "because we say so". Unclear career development opportunities

Slow death of once great work culture

Pros

There are some good people still left, who helped carry this company in one of its worst moments in early 2020s.

Cons

The company leadership has drifted worlds apart from the passionate, driven work culture that embodied our team years ago. The complete disregard for loyal employees expertise is heartbreaking to watch. It's not only dissent that is punished. Absolute obedience and lack of critical thought or insight is a requirement to get somewhere at Paradox nowadays. Management displays zero transparency in communicating with the employees, and attempts to gaslight everyone into believing the company has no issues, while at the same time taking great effort in shutting down anyone who dares ask questions about our strategy and long-term prospects. A lot of teams have been decentralized and if you want to bury yourself in a small structure in one of the studios, you can probably still have a long lasting job here. But the advancement and development opportunities and reserved for people who don't ask questions and are ready to nod and approve every whim of managers who are ill-equipped to do their jobs, and don't know how to listen to well-intentioned expert advice. Probably out of fear for their own careers. Almost everyone is in survival mode and the culture of trust and team cohesion is unraveling every day. Initiative is treated as disobedience. Questions as dissent. And the people who bully others are moved between teams with no real consequences. This is not the time to apply to work at Paradox.

Falling apart

Pros

The colleagues are nice and friendly

Cons

Where to begin? They have lost it completely. The company has moved from trust in their employees to do their job and a hybrid model to commenting on the duration and occurance of breaks and lunches. The say there is flexibility with their Work from Office policy, but in reality they are looking to have the employees seated at their desks 40h a week. The pay is subpar, the culture, which used to be the best part of Paradox, is being killed and they management dont care at all. All the best people are leaving.
