Definitely Room For Improvement

Pros

-Likeable CEO. -Stable company due to diversified technology portfolio. Some areas may experience a dip, but usually bounce back. -Relatively decent co-workers for the most part. -The field is somewhat interesting, moreso if you work in R&D. -Good benefits (Different options for healthcare, 401K w/ company match, etc) -The comapny has been investing back into itself, which is a positive sign (plastics technical center, expanding analytical capabilities, etc.)

Cons

-Employees tend to get pigeonholed into the same tasks which leads to lack of interest and disengagement. -Opportunities for movement/advancement are limited. This problem has grown worse in more recent years with the company shifting emphasis onto employees with degrees over years of practical experience. -Employees generally are not compensated according to performance. Under performers are carried along and top performers are not rewarded for their efforts. This fosters negativity and cynicism. -Training often has no structure. -Management lacks follow through regarding policy and procedure enforcement. -Management often is not forthright with employees. -Human Resources is unresponsive from top to bottom. Unless you're in management, don't expect a timely response to any inquiries.

Financial Stable Growing Company

Pros

Penn Color is a financial solid privately held company with expanding opportunities. Due to the diverse markets we supply employees have an opportunity to learn many different industries. Heavy investment into new technologies makes it an exciting time to work at Penn Color.

Cons

Penn Color is currently transitioning from a small/mid-sized management style to a more corporate environment which makes communication sometimes difficult. New policies are frequently coming out which adds to the confusion. With that said, growing pains are always difficult, but good in the end.

Pros

Successful company, great teamwork environment, good management, company cares about employee safety and overall wellbeing. The company has picnics and Holiday parties to bring families together. Management hands out hams and turkeys for the holidays and year-end bonuses. Penn Color is a great company to work for and if you are willing to learn, you can move up within the company and become successful in your career.

Cons

Needs more staffing to help support each shift to grow successfully.

Pros

This is a company that values their employees and listens to their suggestions. They truly understands that their employees are what help to drive their success and they appreciate everyone of them. The owner and upper management personally knows almost everyone and they take time to get to know you and make you feel comfortable in the company which is rare now-a-days. it is nice to work for a company that feels like a family and is constantly evolving to be better.

Cons

With being a company that is such a specialized field and because so many people stay with the company for 10 plus years, sometimes room for advancement can be limited. When I first started the company was run with old fashioned outlooks but has been evolving to be more diverse and change with the quickly changing times. I think they will continue to get better.

Pros

Great coworkers, Great Benefits, starting salaries aren’t to competitive but the wait to top rate is definitely A plus. Takes about 4 years to reach that. Even though everyday that information changes. You can literally not work and be praised if you are willing to feed your bosses on a daily basis.

Cons

You go home dirty everyday. Absolutely no overtime unless you bring coffee or food to you’re supervisor. I have witnessed this to the point where it became the norm. Favoritism is extremely overwhelming No room for growth If you don’t have a degree you are basically stuck on the floor. Even if you do have a degree if you aren’t one the cool guys. You will be stuck on the floor. Management sucks and most are unqualified for the roles. You can literally brake your back and give them 300% you are still worthless to them.
