Wonderful Environment and Staff
Pros
Amazing, supportive, and highly knowledgeable (and fun!) staff willing to train and support you in every part of the position. Paid on-site lunch breaks (15 - 30 mins). Dental and other benefits like OPERS (State of Ohio public employee retirement fund) available even for part-time staff members. A great position if you like helping the community and frequent researching (books, movies, local resources, etc.). Semi-annual performance reviews are helpful and encouraging. Supervisors are happy to help find training opportunities and help you further your education in library services if you would like. Inclusive of all backgrounds.
Cons
No merit-based pay increases, so even if you take on additional tasks (event planning, committees, etc.), you are dependent on the board approving manual pay increases for the entire staff each year.
