Pros

The company operates in an interesting industry and some teams are made up of experienced professionals who genuinely care about the work. There is potential if leadership aligns more closely with operational realities.

Cons

here appears to be a growing disconnect between leadership and the technical and operational aspects of the business. In several instances, leadership discussions and interviews do not explore core topics such as portfolio governance, operational KPIs, contract management, or time-and-materials (T&M) billing discipline. These are fundamental components of running service and asset portfolios effectively, yet they are often overlooked. Employees who focus on operational rigor sometimes feel undervalued, while others are described internally as “hiding under the radar” and eventually managed out rather than coached or developed. This creates uncertainty and contributes to turnover. Work-life balance can also be inconsistent. Some employees report difficulty taking planned time off, which adds to the perception that leadership priorities are not aligned with sustainable team management. Overall, the organization would benefit from leadership with deeper operational and technical experience, as well as stronger engagement with the teams responsible for executing the work.

We're glad you've had a positive experience at QE Solar, and hope it's continued that way since leaving your review. We've recently elevated several women into leadership or manager positions, and continually ensure our candidate pools are representative of the industry norms and applications received. We're an equal opportunity employer, and thus hire based on ability to do the job at hand. We've definitely endured some growing pains, and it's great to see employees recognize that and find it a little bit fun!

Pros

QE Solar is a phenomenal company with exceptional culture and leadership. The work environment is demanding, but teams are collaborative and supportive, and there are tremendous opportunities for growth. QE is a leader in the solar industry and an ideal place to start or grow a career.

Cons

Daily and weekly schedules are not rigidly structured and can change quickly. Face-to-face interaction with coworkers is often limited to a small group due to the remote nature of the industry.

Thank you so much for your open and thoughtful review. We're excited that you feel positively about our culture, leadership, and supportive environment. We do love growing - both in our industry and our employees. On your cons - these are truths we encounter and acknowledge. Our field positions can be a little unpredictable for scheduling (kind of like the weather - and we need sun to do our jobs!) and our 200 or so employees are scattered across 35+ states! It's a remote but field/site workforce.

Top-Heavy Structure

Pros

*The company has shown strong support for field employees, offering clear career advancement opportunities and training for those roles. *Employees are passionate and committed, especially those who have been with the company through its growth phases.

Cons

*The company is top-heavy, with an unusually high number of upper management positions for its size. This has led to inefficient decision-making and a disconnect between leadership and day-to-day operations. *There is a noticeable culture of favoritism and nepotism. Leadership often prioritizes hiring or promoting personal connections over long-tenured employees who have made meaningful contributions to the company's growth. *Corporate employees have limited career development opportunities compared to their field counterparts, and there’s little investment in internal growth or upward mobility within the corporate team. *Benefits are mediocre (PTO, sick leave, healthcare, etc.), despite the company’s frequent efforts to market them as exceptional. *Upper management does not support employees who raise concerns about toxic culture or poor leadership. Rather than addressing the issue or holding people accountable, they often shift blame onto the employee, further damaging morale and trust.

Growing Company - Lots of Opportunities!

Pros

QE Solar is growing and there are a lot of opportunities to join from entry level to more advanced technical, electrical, or customer-facing roles. Management is engaged, knowledgeable, and involved. The pay structure is very good, and we often find opportunities for overtime or bonuses depending on your position. Safety is a priority and field employees receive PPE and annual budget for clothing and boots. The team works hard and gets along well.

Cons

The workforce is mostly remote, so you may not interact face to face with other employees often.
