Pros

Some supervisors were amazingly good, honest & supportive. Some actively threw you under a bus if it suited them on the day, covered their error, or made them look good.

Cons

Uni system (not just QUT) is designed to remove boundaries between higher degree students & their personal lives. Leaves students open to normalising underpay & working stupid hours without complaint, including when they gain a non-tenured role after they finish their degree,.. in the hope of research work or a tenured position in the future. Do your due diligence before you accept a PhD offer, speak to former students in the work area/ lab & former students of the supervisor/s that you'll be working under. If you get a bad feeling about it, listen to your gut & dig deeper, so that you are making an informed decision.
