Pros

Very nice, friendly and supportive colleagues. This is the only support system that can help you go through each day. Retirement place if you want to be a yes-man or if you join. RSU (Entrance stock grant), ESPP (up to 15% of base pay).

Cons

Too many negative experiences here, hence 1-star review. High turnover rate in Operation (Front end). Low loading from December 2021 (Context: Semicon is booming due to chip shortage, yet this company loading drops significantly!). Hiring freeze since Jan 2022, OT is also highly controlled since then. Under Qualcomm branding, but culture and system are still RF360. Systems are messy, little to none automation (OI & IT team are stuck in another dimension?). Manual fab with manual work! A few sites in Singapore are getting shut down. Very minimal increment, below industry's benchmark. Only received $10 increment in 2020. Firefighting everyday doing line sustaining with not much value-added projects. Very slow career progression, management favours old birds who are "loyal".

Pros

- Many things to learn but you don't have time to learn them anyway as focus is all on execution.

Cons

Long working hours, weekends and public holidays are non-existent, sleep deprivation hence many people fall sick (it is very usual and normal here), no time for own hobbies or interests, no time for family bonding, unreasonable expectation by management, project timeline getting shorter every year, leads telling you not to sleep, lack of appreciation for hardwork (in fact appreciation tool and platforms have become better but the amount of appreciation has become significantly less or redundant), no break between projects, no replacement or compensation for overtime works, people expect you to work EVEN ON YOUR MOST IMPORTANT DAY like wedding day, family celebration, family tradition, etc. Basically, expect to sacrifice everything for Qualcomm.

Pros

Qualcomm is a very stable company, so there's no fear if the company will survive. The insurance policy is great for employees with family. Corporate identity is strong and there are quarterly team building events. Performance reviews are twice a year, but might not be getting more increment than companies with yearly reviews.

Cons

Work life balance is bad, and I have feedback about this to my supervisor, only to be told that "that's the way it is". The twice-yearly performance review system is a farce, the increments are more like yearly increment being spread out twice, and the increments are never worth the hours that we put in. Increment amounts are also dubious, and can differ > 5% between employees with same work function. The general focus is not on the engineering work, but on creating "visibility" for yourself, which seems to be the top "unwritten" agenda; if you've done good work and you don't sell/promote to your supervisors, its your own fault because its not their job to know and recognize what you've done. Some managers seems to be more concerned about VIP visits and RC activities than the real engineering work. Way too many meetings.
