Pros

There is little oversight, which is great if you prefer to work very independently You receive an Amazon gift card around Thanksgiving. You receive one week's pay as a bonus around Christmas.

Cons

They don't provide much benefits. Just medical, and a 401k but no company matching. No life insurance, transit benefits, etc...NOTHING. I was told I received dental and vision, but when I attempted to go to the dentist I was told my particular site doesn't offer dental benefits. No one in HR could provide answers. They don't celebrate MLK JR, day, which is bizarre since it's a federal holiday. However, nearly the entire staff from Regional Managers, VPs, etc... are Orthodox Jewish which means they keep a lot of holidays. There would be weeks in the fall where you couldn't reach hardly any higher ups. All corporate communication was left to two employees, who coincidentally are black, and didn't get the same freedom to take off the Jewish holidays as did the white Jewish upper management. In fact, only white Jewish workers are allowed to take off all the holidays. But all site managers/staff are expected to work, even on MLK JR day, as well as the day after Thanksgiving (which isn't technically a holiday, but come on, to make people use PTO is just greedy). Their communication is very lacking. There was a file inspection 2 weeks in advance that the site wasn't made aware of until the afternoon before. There was a physical inspection of 20% of the property that the Regional Manager scheduled less than 48 hours prior and didn't contact the site. Residents were rightfully incensed. They're very slow to pay their vendors, so as an employee using outside contractors you had to beg and plead some companies to do work on your property. Also, it took 3+ months to be reimbursed for petty cash. Lastly, They don't take the necessary steps to make capital improvements in their property. The site I was at had major plumbing issues on the first floors, maintenance had made them aware years ago. But instead of being proactive, they just cleared the drains every year, Even though people regularly complained of sewage water backing into their tubs and toilets. And water would pool in the laundry rooms and into living rooms. Also, when it was recommended that all mailboxes be replaced because they're broken, and easily tampered with. I was told to basically "don't worry about it. We'll handle it." The maintenance supervisor said he's made the same recommendation 3 years ago, and was told the exact same thing. Nothing was handled.
