Pros

The team at Rightsline works hard and has some talented and smart individuals. But with that there is dead weight on a number of teams or even those leading them. There is no meeting Friday, every other Friday off and amazing work life balance. You manager will be you best ally in navigating a career in the organization but you will also have to constantly prove yourself for little career growth. Joining remote is not something to worry about you will have the support of the team to ensure you are happy and successful!

Cons

If you are talented and smart you will be overworked and painfully underpaid. The team lacks engineers so it impacts everyone and the product. The entire people success function of the business is terrible and poorly lead which results in people leaving the organization more than in the past, inability to hire good talent and hiring takes a long time. There is also a lot of mysterious or odd things that happen with little to no understanding why such as layoffs, long review cycles etc. The product roadmap can also be unclear at times. The product is very complex which makes it challenging to learn but that also depends on your role.

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We value all feedback as it gives us an opportunity to review our current business practices and continually improve which is our goal. In the past year, we made many enhancements to improve the employee journey; starting from career mapping, compensation benchmarking, introducing a company-wide variable bonus component and an inclusive annual performance review. Our employee satisfaction rating remains strong as the majority of people like the strategic directions we are taking. While we appreciate your feedback, we also understand we cannot satisfy everyone. We continue to strive for an inclusive workplace and encourage you to reach out to me to discuss more in detail areas you think we can continue to improve.

Pros

Joined the company when it was still very much in a startup mentality and position in its customer base. I always was made to feel like an integral part of the team and for a long time it felt like a family. Not to say that it was always easy, it was often the opposite, but no matter how intense deadlines could be made to feel, it still felt like all of us in the company were in it together. As the company grew, it became more difficult to maintain the feeling of closeness we had experienced thus far, but it felt like the original executives did their best to foster team-building. Obviously, that feeling could not be maintained forever, especially with the rapid growth that Rightsline has experienced in the last few years. At the surface, Rightsline has a lot of perks that are desirable to people looking for new employment- unlimited time off, good health/vision/dental insurance, every other Friday off, and 401k match. (We had to repeatedly ask en masse for 401k match for over 3 years, and when they finally implemented it, they took away the monthly wellness stipend implemented in 2020 without notice, despite many people protesting otherwise.) Near the end of my tenure, there was a push for more engagement with employees, namely “Spirit Week” and Wellness Weeks, but the efforts came off as insincere. A simple gift card or salary increases in relation to local inflation rates would have gone a longer way in displaying employee appreciation. TLDR: Good benefits and time off policy, completely WFH, some good people working there.

Cons

The company has always struggled with over-promising to customers in relation to the ongoing development of the product, so it always felt like a race against the clock to complete projects. Rightsline has hired more hands to help, and they’ve certainly put more effort into the hiring process, but it was never for the roles really needed. A majority of the team are hard workers who know what they’re doing, but there are definitely people at the company whose continued presence baffles me, especially as a member of the recent layoff (which included a significant amount of minority representation in the company; almost everyone was either a POC or a member of LGBTQ+). I always took pride in the work I did for the company, and was told there would always be a place for me there, but in the end it seems like that wasn’t the case. Maybe I should have spent more time schmoozing with the newer C-level executives? If you’re considering working for Rightsline, I would only suggest it to those in the Engineering or Product fields. Otherwise, you’re probably not going to enjoy it as much as they advertise you will. TLDR: Company is always struggling to meet customer demand, non-competitive salaries, and there are employees who are effectually useless and still employed.

Thank you for your feedback and for your service at Rightsline. It is understandable that change can be challenging to adapt to, especially as the company continues to grow and advance. At Rightsline, we are dedicated to investing in our team members in ways that resonate with them and to ensure we are doing that, we commit to consistent employee feedback surveys, have established an Employee Advisory Board for employees to have direct lines into decision making, and maintaining an open door policy across the organization. We are committed to using feedback from our team to pave our future. Once again, thank you for your feedback.

Nice Work-Life Balance but Confusing Product/Company Direction

Pros

- Great work life balance with alternating 4-day work weeks and unlimited PTO that you're encouraged to use - Interesting clients and use cases that demonstrate the power and flexibility of the product - Opportunities for growth and to move around within the company to try new things if you prove yourself - Many hard-working and knowledgeable colleagues

Cons

- New initiatives get introduced at a high level without much detail or explanation, which can be confusing - The product roadmap is very focused on what features will do instead of explaining an overall strategy, which makes the company's aspirations for growth feel unconvincing - Big product initiatives take up a majority of engineering's time and leave few resources for current customers to fix bugs or introduce quality of life improvements, which makes the product feel stagnant - Attempts to scale the engineering team hit roadblocks for various reasons, which slows things down across the org - Lack of effective conflict resolution strategies can lead to toxic working relationships
