The most degrading job I've ever had.
Pros
The only "pro" is that after some time, and if you are liked well enough, you can do the job from home. Of course they lower your pay if you choose to work from home...
Cons
To begin, I would have to say this is the most blatantly racist company I have ever seen in my life. The culture is probably 90 percent African American and 10 percent everything else. Not a big deal...except when it comes to promotions. As a long time employee, I was up for a promotion 3 times. Finally off the phones, woo-hoo! Except in the end, other, less qualified candidates were promoted over me. Now, if these were people that had been there for years and worked towards a promotion, great. However, most of the people promoted have been there less than a year. I cant help but think that there is some sort of discriminatory practice occurring, especially since all of the supervisors at this company also happen to be African American. I can think of less than 5 people that are in a role other than on the phone that are Caucasian. And the ones that are have been there for years and years and had to apply several times to get promoted to anything other than "agent". The pay is ridiculous for what you have to go through. When hired, I was told that I would take about 40 calls a day from consumers regarding comments they had. Not bad. The truth though, is that you take double, sometimes triple that. And these are not "comments". The calls are full blown complaints. Thats right-you listen to people complain ALL day. For 8 or 10 hours straight. They curse at you, yell at you, call you names. They expect you to take care of their "issues", however, this is not "customer service" and no issue gets resolved. You file a "report" about their complaint and thats it. No resolution. Which means that they complain some more. The break schedule is laughable. 2 ten minute breaks and a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Its the same whether you work 8 or 10 hours. So, in total, if you work a 10 hour shift, you have 50 minutes away from the complaints. All of this for the grand total of 11.00 an hour to start, 11.50 after 6 months and then a .25 cent raise yearly. And by the way, that raise caps out. So after a few years, the most you can make is under 13.00 and hour. Still with me? The management is awful. Supervisors that have no education. No special training at all. In fact, a lot of them started as "agents" and were promoted to supervisor within a few months. Thats right folks. Begin as a customer service rep, and after a few months, supervisor. Of course, these "supervisors" dont really supervise. As far as I can tell, they sit in their offices and gossip and write people up if they they are not perfect on their calls. So..bad management, bad pay, bad environment, discriminatory. Still want to work here?
