Unfortunate and disappointing

Pros

There are some incredibly passionate, talented individuals that work here. Unfortunately the leadership does not invest in truly “hungry & humble” employees; instead success is dependent on whether you are simply a yes person and become a foot soldier to execute ideas you have no part of contributing to and sometimes are directly in conflict with values and ethics.

Cons

Incredibly inexperienced founders who are disjointed and do not function as a unified front. It’s obvious that the COO is not considered an equal partner by the CEO. Culture is impulsive, reactive and the CEO has a track record of shaming people in public Slack channels which does not translate to a psychologically safe environment. Communication from decision makers is only when it's convenient for them or if it's regarding something they want to hear or pushes their own agenda forward. Nearly impossible to feel successful because of the many blockers created by micro-managing leaders who refuse to relinquish control, resulting in an extreme lack of empowerment or opportunity to grow. Very obvious favoritism toward those who are "yes" people, especially within the engineering vertical that are friends with the CEO outside of the business. It's clear that the founders have no idea what they're working toward, and with a recent pivot in strategy that has had zero transparent communication to the rest of the organization it’s not a very reassuring space. Unfortunately, they aren't relying on their seasoned talent with years of experience under their belt for any direction or input. There is one particular individual in a leadership role who has exhibited egregious behavior both internally and externally with zero consequences and has since earned a reputation of being protected by the founders which has set a terrible expectation of what the culture is like here. Turnover has been significant recently, equally made up of people leaving on their own terms and layoffs, and I would not be surprised if more people decide to leave for greater opportunities. Sadly the emphasis on "an ego-free culture" is far from accurate, and I would never recommend anyone to work here.

Be prepared to be a "yes" person or else ...

Pros

Remote work (mostly), some great team members turned friends who are very hard workers.

Cons

The values are humble and hungry, but the leaders are far from humble. Be prepared to be a “yes” person, even if it goes against your values or beliefs. If not, you’ll get the cut. If you’re not a favorite of the CEO or COO you likely won’t last. Very disappointed in how they are running this business. Turnover is high for a startup with both people leaving on their own terms and layoffs happening every 1-2 weeks communicated as “restructuring” because of a new business model they are putting forth. Snackpass is a good idea, but unfortunately with the leadership currently in place they will crash and burn. They tear down the seasoned employees, and elevate the inexperienced. The communication is atrocious, if there even is any. People get berated publicly in slack channels, most of the time it’s from the leader themselves. It’s very much a “drop everything you’re doing” culture for things that aren’t even important. The founders are passive aggressive and there’s never alignment between any of the leaders. The founders and several of the leaders are extremely disrespectful! They have people in management that should not be in management and have never managed before. The inexperience, naivete and immaturity shows on a daily basis. They focus on the wrong things. The CEO continuously inserts himself into projects and departments and tries to take over, oftentimes unsuccessfully. Would not recommend working at this company unless they replace the current leadership (who are not true leaders). It’s extremely toxic and there are much better companies to work for. If you want to work with nice people, want respect and are looking for growth with a great culture look elsewhere because you won’t get it here.

Pros

-People are genuinely nice and willing to help out.

Cons

for a series B startup- the structure of this company is pretty bad. There are some bad leadership members in the team who are incompetent in their roles. Don't be fooled by how well they are doing on weekly friday meetings. Lots of people are being let go. Some of them have been there for over 4 years are randomly being terminated and I've seen some new hires also being terminated after only being there for a month or so. They have been letting go a lot of people but instead of laying them off, they would let go 1-2 people per week. I have been seeing this trend in last few months. The hiring has def. slow'd down. Company doesn't really have a unique product. Micromanagers No sense of training or job stability Projects are given without communicating deadlines. Snackpass will not be next DD
