Technical leadership is not transparent and is indecisive. duplicative initiatives and groups working on similar things in a vacuum. Lack of cohesion and confusion about how the executive teams strategy is actually being implemented on the ground. Not sure if what you are working on actually matters or is contributing to the company's success.

As a growing technology company, sometimes we move fast. As we continue to expand it is important to emphasize ruthless prioritization and adapting to an evolving world. We are currently working through a Lean-Agile work transformation, and I can already see how this is helping with our challenges from growth.

Small company with no room for employee growth - many people leave the company to move upwards in their careers. They say they value DE&I but most of the senior management are white females. From time to time they run HR campaigns to have employees post great things about the company on Glassdoor, you'll notice most of the positive reviews here were all posted around the same times. Many meetings that could've simply been emails instead. Organization is a revolving door.

Cons

Company is evolving from his historical role in regulated services to launch commercial services. Planning and decision making around this new, commercial mission is still developing. A bit more assertive senior decision making would be helpful. It's coming, and the company certainly wants to improve Company is almost loathe to have employees visit offices for fear of discriminating against those that have less interest or willingness to do so. This company does not have some of the extreme financial upside potential of some of the bigger tech companies (FANG, etc). Private company with no equity, but pay levels are solid, and quality of life is relatively high.

Work life balance: no meeting fridays & fridays off during the summer lots of time off available flexible work hours work from anywhere. Everyone is friendly and wants to have fun while they work. Heavy focus on inclusivity and celebrating diversity.

Cons

No accountability any level. It takes forever to get to a decision, to set priorities, or align on the status of major projects. Bigger we get the less information makes it down to employees and being remote seems to make it worse. No one seems to care that there are no growth opportunities for most employees.

Somos has been a great place to work. Even though the company has grown by leaps and bounds, the culture still remains in tact. Somos cares about its employees and its customers. I have never had the company say, "sorry, we can't do that." They try and find a way. The company switched to fully Work From Anywhere without missing a beat. They provided employees anything they needed to make sure we could work comfortably and efficiently from home. Somos CEO is terrific. I'd follow her into battle anywhere, anytime.

Management sincerely desires to foster a positive work environment. Very flexible working arrangements. Ample benefits and compensation.

Cons

Discriminates against employees based on covid vaccine status. Denies entry to facilities and company events if unvaccinated. Threatens employees with termination if they are unwilling to receive covid vaccination. Disunity between departments. Executive management appears to not understand the needs and concerns of Engineering and instead attempts to boost morale with perks and gifts instead of addressing root causes of complaints. In terms of practical matters, those in leadership roles do not lead and instead push decisions down for ground level employees to ultimately decide.
