Bad benefits and culture

Pros

It was a paycheck - that's all

Cons

Where to start? No matter what your offer letter says, you will not get ANY paid vacation in your first year. Then 2d-5th year is 1 week, 6th-10th is 2 weeks, 11th-onwards is 3 weeks. No telecommuting options. Lousy 401K plans. Company wants to buy up all of their competitors but not pay decent salaries or offer better benefits. Home grown application software package was written 25+ years ago and looks like it (very slow and clunky)

Pros

- laid back environment (so long as you don't have to deal with customers) - friendly culture - frequently promotes from within; not uncommon for people starting in production to work their way up

Cons

- lowballed me on my pay for all 3 years - the people who do work their way up from production aren't always given equal pay to those who did not - was given very little guidance as to what was expected of me; would go so far as to say that some people above me had no idea/conflicting ideas as to what my role was - very old school management ideology - lots of the guys have been there forever and are extremely set in their ways - there are termites in the wood - frequent mass layoffs for the past year and a half
