Pros

Competitive salaries and benefits. Option to work from aboard for a few weeks each year. Great product, many dedicated and extremely smart employees who are focused on doing what is right for the business. Efforts are being made to improve performance management and L&D

Cons

The launch of the latest iteration of the company strategy has coincided with an increasing amount of control and micro-management from the top, particularly by the CRO. Simple decisions can no longer be made without approval from the most senior executives to the extent that it is impeding our ability to work effectively.

We’re keen to make Thought Machine a place where our people can make decisions swiftly, and be effective, without unnecessary bureaucracy or sign-off. If you still feel as though you are ineffective, or have a difficult relationship with an individual in the company, you can speak directly to the HR team, or through your HR Business Partner, and they would welcome the conversation to see if there are ways to resolve or improve the situation.

Pros

- The salary is generally very good, especially if you can negotiate - Company offers equity to everyone, not just senior management - Tonnes of friendly people and outside of work activities in the Singapore office - Attrition is very low outside of London engineering department - While results driven and being assigned to certain projects leads to long hours, the default expectation is 40 hours a week, much better work life balance than many Singapore firms

Cons

- Hard to see a path to profitability due to the herculean effort it takes to deliver larger and more lucrative client projects - For the London HQ, a lack of senior technologists from the banking industry meant we spent a lot of effort building the wrong things. This is improving with some recent hires but not fast enough. - Hierarchical management culture in the client services department vs a flatter meritocratic culture elsewhere such as sales and most of engineering

Our benefits goes well beyond the traditional list provided. We want to reward our employees throughout their entire career, and regularly add new benefits to the list. From our generous share options scheme (one of the most generous in London), to special treats and events throughout the year. We're proud to pay above market rate, to ensure we attract and retain top talent, along with mentoring, learning and development programmes.
