Pros

Some colleagues are nice, but they’re desperately trying to get out of this place which makes for a strange environment.

Cons

True story: Imagine you started a few weeks ago, you’re already working on several projects including with external partners. You have a good rapport with your supervisor who is a C-Suite leader. One morning, a few days before BFCM, your Slack stops working and you realize you’re logged out of everything. You reach out to your manager who has no idea what’s going on. The manager reaches out to the CEO who explains that you’ve been fired (without your manager knowing about it or getting to weigh in on it). Fast forward a couple months, and the C-Suite leader got fired as well. What it comes down to, mainly, is that the CEO needs to have his fingers in everything. Despite no experience as a tech startup CEO, he believes he knows everything better than anyone else, which creates a toxic atmosphere. Avoid at all costs. I’ve also seen with my own eyes (and heard from ex-employees) that ThriveCart pays lawyers to get negative reviews taken down. So we’ll see how long this one will last.

Pros

• It is a legitimate company that pays on time. • The remote aspect provides flexibility in theory. • Some team members were kind and talented.

Cons

• Promised two weeks of severance, only received one. • Was owed 7 days of vacation, only received 4. • Promised a Q4 bonus tied to mandatory participation, but the payout was never delivered. • Employees are encouraged to leave positive reviews, while negative ones are often flagged or legally challenged. • The culture does not support learning through mistakes — termination is often the first resort. • I consistently worked beyond healthy limits and was told “you’re mismanaging your stress” when I raised concerns. • After returning from a medical leave, my accommodation for a reduced workload was disregarded — I worked 22+ hours of overtime within 8 weeks.

Pros

Lots of potential in the creator economy

Cons

The new CEO (as of June '24) lacks the humility and knowledge to be a CEO, much less a CEO of a SaaS business. It's a shame as this business had so much potential, but the investors are asleep at the wheel on this one.
