Pros

There are some really good people in the company's organization. Working four tens with three days off each week was awesome. Pay was pretty good while it lasted.

Cons

Nepotism. Massive corporate deadwood taking credit for other people's work. Good ole boy politics protecting unproductive employees while penalizing productive ones. No job security: company will terminate employees for trivial reasons that have nothing to with job performance. No loyalty to employees or perspective on what each employee does especially by upper management. Poorly organized where egos and personal feelings take precedent over efficiency and productivity. Typical corrupt government contractor.

Rising Senior "Leaders".....

Pros

The pay and benefits are pretty good.

Cons

UCOR's Rising Senior Leader program is the only way to get promoted. They arbitrarily select young, inexperienced people to be "leaders". They put them through a series of discussions for a year, and then they're magically "leaders". Experienced people who have earned leadership roles are never considered for advancement. Once they're appointed, it doesn't matter how bad they do, how much work they do, or if they are capable - the company is determined to make them a leader. After several years of choosing "leaders" this way the company is failing on all fronts.

Pros

Outstanding pay, and paydays are every Thursday! Up to a fairly high pay grade, salary positions are non-exempt, so you get paid for every hour you work. Good benefits for this day and time. A real feeling of being part of a family with the hourly staff.

Cons

All the negative reviews above are true. Unbelievable amounts of nepotism and favoritism on full display. Lots of deadwood management who are quick to find fault but never accept responsibility for issues. Front line supervisors and facility management are held fully and completely responsible for all site activities, with very little support from management. Simple, honest mistakes are treated like willful misconduct and can result in disciplinary action or termination. Practically impossible to accomplish any but the very simplest of maintenance tasks due to company-imposed procedures and red tape. Lots of verbal and unspoken rules that have to be followed that in some cases contradict written procedures.
