Pros

Great company culture with a very supportive team and approachable management. Leadership genuinely trusts employees, giving them the freedom to work independently without unnecessary micromanagement. This creates a positive and resilient working environment, even during busy periods. The company strongly encourages continuous learning and professional growth by providing useful learning materials, certifications, and development opportunities. The HR team is responsive, supportive, and always willing to help when needed. One of the standout experiences was the interview process — it felt more like a friendly conversation than a stressful interview, which reflects the respectful and people-focused culture within the organization. Overall, a great place to grow professionally while feeling valued and trusted.

Cons

The company provides a cash benefit for employees to purchase their own medical insurance, which is helpful. However, it would be even better if a company-sponsored group medical insurance plan could be introduced in the future.

Pros

Ultima has some great people who actually care about their customers and will go the extra mile. Some fantastic technical people who really know their stuff. Modern looking office. Free parking.

Cons

When I joined solutions that were put in front of customers were vendor agnostic and were the best solution for the customers problem. They might not have always been the cheapest solution or the solution that vendor x is currently promoting. But most importantly the solution was ratified by a technical consultant. Now Ultima is very much a sales company with technical people. Solutions are sold to customers without the correct technical people being involved and ends up with the customer unhappy and the consultants are left to pick up the pieces. There are no real benefits. No medical, pension contributions are a joke (the legally bare minimum). Free fruit can't count when you are never in the office and no company car. Car Mileage rate is criminal - Ultima pay 11p a mile for personal car usage instead of the normal 45p a mile. When questioned about this we were informed by HR that the company believe that because they pay us £500 a month car allowance that makes it a company car?! You are expected to claim the remaining money back from HRMC. Which is easy enough to do when you know how. A word of warning - if you are owed more than £2500 then you will have to do a self assessment and as you can regularly do 10000 miles a year that becomes a horrible necessity. The managed services team are woefully under staffed. There are some amazing people in the TSC, however they are over worked, under appreciated and fighting a losing battle. Senior Technical Consultants are constantly leaving.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you agree we have some fantastic technical people that work for us. As we have grown considerably in a short time, your feedback is acknowledged. We are working very closely with our Technical teams to ensure our processes and staffing levels (we have recently considerably increased the headcount) are all sufficient to look after our customers.

Pros

You can actually progress (But don't expect payrises)

Cons

The sales team are either all clinically mentally handicapped, or there is zero training. Frequent issues arise with them, which would all be avoided if they actually knew how to do their job. Also: the sales team is the only team which gets any recognition, despite the fact that 90% of the problems are because of them, they get big expensive parties while the rest of us get sweet F-A. Pay-rises don't happen because the idiot in charge spent all his money on a awful hospital looking new office which serves no purpose other than to make the company look more modern to customers. They promised us benefits, but so far nothing has materialised. The idiots under the idiot in charge are pretty stupid too, upper management is run by a council of chimps on typewriters, they make decisions based on dreams and fairy magic, and expect the rest of us to pick up the slack, which there is a lot of. Turn over is incredibly quick, so no one really knows what they're doing.
