Pros

Flexible hours, decent pay - but this is nothing when compared with the cons.

Cons

Seeing people put more than a star on here hasn't worked here in years. There is so much wrong with this company. The CEO is wasting investor money on things that are not building growth. There hasn't been a decent sale in YEARS. These people are getting paid BUCCO bucks just to be in an office. I loved working here before the new CEO came, and even then, I thought the outcome would be good. But I realized he had no problem throwing people under the bus for his mistakes and wouldn't take any responsibility for his unprofessionalism. Management plays games, is completely unprofessional with relationships, and ruins peoples' sanity. Best thing I ever did was walk out, and I should have done it earlier.

Stay away at all costs

Pros

You get paid every two weeks

Cons

Romy, the latest CEO, and CEO's here change faster than tires on a race car, is probably the worst leader the organization has had since its inception. She is not a good leader and lacks the character necessary to lead an organization. If you want to have your offer letter taken away from you days before you start, apply at Vault. If you want to get benefits taken away from you as a full time employee without reason or warning, Vault is your home. If you want to be micromanaged or blamed for the shortcomings of leadership, work at Vault. In other words, stay away at all costs. The technology stack is a 6 year old house of cards. Everyone in the product/development team has either quit or gotten fired because the CEO doesn't understand how product and development work, so she tries to micromanage without actually giving out any direction. I feel bad for the investors that have put money in this promising company for many years, only to see it squandered by a leader that is making all the employees quit, and in essence having on capacity to build new or maintain existing products. So sad.

Pros

- Awesome employee-level talent -- managers did a great job hiring smart, passionate people. - Excellent concept with the opportunity to affect millions of lives and change the employee benefits. - Solid healthcare plan.

Cons

What do you get when a CEO hires his buddies instead of people who actually know what they're doing? A yes-man culture where positive thinking and personal rapport with the executive team means more than critical thinking, hard work, or business sense! Managers dictate product, support, and marketing direction based on their personal interests and "passions", leaving the rest to chance and wishful thinking. Small wins are constantly celebrated, but there is zero accountability for missed deadlines or disorganization at the management level. Wondering how things ever get done? Excellent question! If you're an employee, expect to work long hours to rectify the havoc caused poor organizational planning. If you really want to get things done, you'll have to bypass your manager and go straight to other employees to figure out what the rest of the company is working on - it likely won't be what you think, and it almost never aligns with the overall goals of the organization. Attempt to limit the amount of times you ask for pesky things like data, market analysis, customer feedback, or a coherent product roadmap. Ain't nobody got time for that kind of stuff at Student Loan Genius! To be fair, leadership has gone through a lot of changes in the past six months (the listed CEO is no longer employed at the company.) But by all reports, it's been too little, too late in terms of making a serious impact on employee morale or the bottom line. I've watched this company take several of the hardest-working people I know and turn them into jaded paycheck-collecting zombies. Unless you look forward to LARPing The Walking Dead on a daily basis, steer clear!
