Pros

The company has good salaries and cool people

Cons

I worked at this company for two years, and in that time I saw it go from a promising start-up to a sinking ship. The management team has completely lost touch with reality. They've changed all the C-suite, onboarding people that only think about politics and getting power, for then leave the company. There have been constant rounds of layoffs, even after concrete promises of no more layoffs. The company has a huge issue with DEI, but the management completely denies it and worst back up saying they have a DEI team (25% of someones role) and an unexistant plan. The people have 0 input on how the business is going, they close and celebrate amazing deals but the company never achieves targets. I would not recommend anyone work for this company. It's a toxic environment where you're constantly under pressure and there's no room for growth. If you're looking for a company that values its employees and is committed to DEI, look elsewhere.

Great product and inspiring vision, but employees are expendable assets

Pros

Fast decision making, world class product (that you are really proud of), incredible group of very talented and smart individuals, great engineering team. Technology wise - very advanced. Great benefits, endless growth opportunities, options to switch teams and even departments. Still one of the best companies in Estonia.

Cons

Inspiring vision, but unclear perspectives. Zero job security. Veriff is managed as any sports team, in Netflix inspired fashion. Unless you are part of the top management, work in revenue organization or one of the key product engineers, your job is always at risk. Company hires top talents to solve specific problems fast. When most pressing part of the job is done, positions become obsolete and typically removed on next lay off round (on more or less regular schedule). Upside of those constant clean ups - organization is always fit and efficient, most people around are top performers, work hard and do right things fast. Which is good for collaboration and obviously for stakeholders. But there is downside for current employees - anybody can be out literally any second via 2 minute long zoom call regardless of their performance, previous achievements, seniority or importance of things they are working on.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback. We understand that the recent redundancies have been challenging for everyone and that it can impact well-being and sense of security in the workplace. These decisions were made after careful consideration and were necessary for the long-term sustainability of the company. In Veriff, we're aiming to build a culture where individuals can grow, learn, and take on new opportunities. When there are job vacancies, we promote them and encourage individuals to apply, but we also acknowledge that sometimes there may be periods where growth opportunities are limited and can impact career progression. Our goal is to build a supportive culture that promotes growth for all employees. That's also why we hold performance reviews twice a year, so individuals can receive feedback on a regular basis about their progress. We offer a comprehensive compensation package that also includes other benefits depending on the location (e.g., health insurance, health days etc.). We aim to build a strong and inclusive team culture and appreciate feedback that helps us become better. Thank you for your time and dedication at Veriff, and we wish you all the best in the future.
