Shoddy pay/management

Pros

Good for a first job, flexible working policy, free lunches, nice people

Cons

Management is completely shoddy. Massive divide between senior and mid/junior employees. Pay for mid/juniors is a joke. Promised promotions/rises which never materialize. They push hard working employees away because of this. Only managers get bonuses and there is no transparency. Used to be independent but now totally run by owners in America.

Pros

* The culture is really good having socials every month, pool table, tennis table, football game every week, clubs for climbing, cocktails, etc. * A lot of work/life balance where you can work from home most of the time and only have to be connected the core hours (10am - 4pm) and the rest you decide when to work. * The personal development is really good having a day a month for self development, going to conferences (Big Data London, Kafka Summit, AWS Reinvent, etc).

Cons

* The only con for me it's that the Data stack can be overwhelming where you need to have deep knowledge in the Data stack (Airflow), DevOps stack (Most of the AWS services, Kubernetes, Docker, terraform, etc), and Full stack (Vue.js in a few cases, Flask for API, and all the relevant Python libraries SQLAlchemy, pandas, etc). * Still using PHP for some projects (maybe for others could be a pro).

Pros and cons

Pros

- Lovely staff - Flexible working hours - Freedom to work remotely

Cons

- No opportunities for remote workers to progress regardless of qualifications/experience/time at company - There has been no pay increase for remote workers since I joined the company years ago, meaning we are now on minimum wage. As the cost of living continues to rise, I'm unfortunately looking for a new job as I can no longer afford to live on this wage - There used to be monthly and quarterly monetary bonuses which helped but these seem to have stopped
