Pros

Has boosted sales thanks to COVID, but once COVID goes there are little expectations for growth.

Cons

Werfen owners are from a region of Spain called Catalonia, known for their soccer team, nice weather, unstable politics, and being cheap. During the pandemic the owners of Werfen send periodic letters across the company gritting everyone of the efforts, always speaking of Werfen as a big family, the sense of belonging… The business has done amazingly well during the years of COVID because their primary business lines, Hemostasis and Acute Care, have significantly benefited from the effects of COVID, hitting double-digit growth in most major areas (revenue and gross profit). During these years, employees have been asked to work hard, and all they have received has been a “thank you note” as part of these President communications. However, the company does not share any profit and, in times of high inflation like the current in the US (7% in 2021 and 5% expected for 2022), tells

Toxic environment

Pros

Pay is about industry average.

Cons

Very toxic corporate environment which trickles always through the field staff. Overall a very high turnover, which should tell you plenty. Only the group from their original "boys club" stays around. They recently restructured the field team right before Christmas - real nice guys for that one ! Find another opportunity if you can.

A Culture of Erasure: Strategic Incompetence and Leadership Bias

Pros

The company possesses a strong portfolio through aggressive acquisitions and maintains a solid market presence within the diagnostics industry

Cons

Working here, particularly within the North American division, reveals a deep-seated culture of exclusion and operational negligence. The acquisition strategy is purely financial with no regard for the human or technical capital involved. Integration is treated as a mandate rather than a process; for example, the forced SAP migration for legacy Immucor was handled with zero tactical foresight, resulting in catastrophic shipping failures and payment issues that directly harmed customer relationships. More concerning is the North American Executive Leadership Team (ELT), which operates as a closed loop. There is a palpable bias against women with independent perspectives. This was most evident during the recent restructuring, where a significant number of women were pushed out under the guise of "alignment," only for their roles to be slightly reframed and filled by men. Furthermore, the Human Resources department functions solely as a personal shield for the ELT rather than an objective body for employee protection. HR is entirely aligned with leadership interests, making it a hostile environment for reporting genuine concerns. There is no psychological or physical safety net here; when crises occur, the company’s priority is protecting the "feelings" of leadership and the corporate image rather than supporting the victim or the employee. They will find ways to shift blame onto the individual to avoid accountability. This is a "Bedford-first" culture that treats all other technology centers and remote employees as secondary.
