A Challenging Work Environment

Pros

time off between Christmas and New Years, although that is quite common in the agency world

Cons

1. Compensation: Employees at re:act are often undercompensated from the outset, and even promotions are accompanied by disappointingly low raises. This has created an environment where talented individuals feel undervalued and demotivated. 2. Prioritization of Bottom Line: Despite the rhetoric about the company being a "family," it is evident that the bottom line takes precedence over employee well-being. The organization tends to prioritize financial goals, sometimes at the expense of employee satisfaction. 3. Communication and Respect: There is a noticeable lack of open communication and respect for employees. Individuals are occasionally spoken to rudely, and their contributions are undervalued. This can create a challenging atmosphere for professional growth and collaboration. 4. Founder's Disparaging Remarks: It’s crucial to highlight that one of the founders speaks poorly about previous employees in front of the current staff. This behavior not only undermines the morale of existing team members but also fosters an environment of distrust and apprehension. 5. Absence of HR: The absence of a dedicated HR department poses challenges for conflict resolution and professional development. The fact that the owners are married adds another layer of complexity, making it difficult for employees to voice concerns without fear of bias. 6. Limited Benefits: re:act lacks comprehensive benefits, which is a significant drawback for employees seeking stability and security. 7. Insensitivity to Personal Matters: The company is insensitive to personal matters affecting employees. There is a need for a more compassionate approach when it comes to understanding and addressing personal challenges faced by the team. 8. High Turnover Rate: It's important to note an alarmingly high turnover rate within the company. This trend raises concerns about the overall job satisfaction and retention strategies employed by re:act. The constant flux of team members can impact project continuity and team cohesion. 9. Unsettling Team Shuffling: In the account and social teams, personnel are frequently shuffled around, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and unease. This lack of stability can hinder team productivity and raises questions about the company's strategic planning and employee retention efforts. 10. Lack of Training and Support: Starting at re:act comes with the challenge of no structured training programs. Employees are expected to perform well without adequate onboarding, and there is a notable absence of managerial support, especially when it's needed the most.

Overworked and Undervalued

Pros

Birthday off, technically days in between Christmas and New Year off (but still have to monitor community management for brands)

Cons

Extreme lack of communication between senior leadership team to manager to team members, no diversity & inclusion initiatives sometimes adhoc last minute socials - but founders don't join, lack of feedback from manager, random rules set in place for control, if you question rules or processes you'll feel as if you have a target on your back, if you don't conform you will be seen as 'not a great fit for the agency', no relationship feels genuine, there is no career development plan or training, no consequences for bad behaviour (i.e. sexual harassment, disrespectful attitudes, finger-pointing, etc.), constantly overworked & undervalued, manager isn't easy to contact & avoids helping or giving input, the senior leadership team are allowed different rules than the other team levels (i.e. annual leave days, work from home days, arriving at different times), favouritism is constantly visible from founders with those employees who have industry connections, if you voice out wrongdoings or red flags you will be silenced, no HR department within the agency - only an online platform through BrightHR, wrongful dismissals without HR or manager present and lead by founders, tone of founder is authoritative - delivery is never neutral, positive, or constructive.

Dismissive and insensitive leadership

Pros

birthday off, sometimes snacks available in office during day.

Cons

Management are passive aggressive, patronising, dismissive and very typical negative office culture. At first they make it sound like a very comfortable place to work, community driven and caring about employee needs however right away you start to realise that might not be the case. I was also personally warned from other employees when starting. When starting the agency, the first week I was expected to fully work without having a good understanding of how to do certain processes. Getting very different information from different people on how to do 1 thing was confusing. Had to quickly learn and work at the same time, very stressful and should not have been organised this way, normally you get at least 1-2 weeks of learning and settling in before getting stuck in with a ridiculous amount of work. VERY demanding work to where it causes us to work out of work hours, mentally draining, unprofessional talks. Rude, patronising and very dismissive responses when we are talking about how we feel and what employees think. Quite a few people have left the job in a short period of time because of this and many other reasons. Probation meetings are delayed without warning or communication as to ‘why’. Not being able to adjust work hours even if its a medical issue though they advertise flexibility and understanding. Flexible working for some and not others (favouritism). There is no HR department within the agency only an online platform through BrightHR which are also uncontactable unless its through your manager or founders . This is not a joke and unfortunately it does hurt to write this. Please be careful if you are thinking of applying to this company.
