Following the tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong, our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones, been displaced, and the emergency teams working tirelessly for the community. Our priority has been the safety and wellbeing of our team members and providing needs-based support to affected residents. We’ve checked on team members living in Wang Fuk Court and are offering practical and emotional assistance. Across our brands, teams have stepped up. The nearby Mannings stores extended opening hours and, from today, 11 Mannings stores in the area are distributing care packs with essentials such as water, hygiene items and warming products, with pharmacists also supporting extended pharmacy hours and basic healthcare services in shelters. 7‑Eleven and Wellcome Hong Kong stores have prepared food and water for donation through recognised channels, and IKEA has prepared blankets and other essentials for community centres. At the Group level, we’ve mobilised truckloads of goods through our distribution centre and registered product donations and volunteers with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service so that support can be deployed as needs are confirmed. Guided by government and relief partners, we’ll continue supporting the Tai Po community as needs evolve.

We’re proud to continue driving diversity, equity, and inclusion across DFI. Our Group Chief Executive, Scott Price, has been named a Global Male Champion for Gender Equality 2025, while Joy Jinghui Xu (Group Chief People & Culture Officer) and Erica Chan (Group Chief Legal, Sustainability & Corporate Affairs Officer) have been recongised among Asia’s Most Inspiring Women Leaders by House of Rose Professional Pte. Ltd. – a global organisation that champions leadership development and gender equality, values that align with our commitment to diversity and inclusion. This recognition reflects the leadership and impact our leaders bring every day – and reinforces our belief that diversity is a strategic imperative. With women representing 65% of our workforce and 60–70% of our customers, diversity drives stronger business outcomes and a better future for all. Thank you to our leaders for paving the way and inspiring us to create a workplace where equity and inclusion thrive.
We’re proud to share that we’ve recently received two prestigious sustainability recognitions for our DFI Low-Carbon Rice programme: the UNSDG Achievement Awards Hong Kong 2025 and the ESGBusiness Awards! The Individual SDG Award – Goal 13: Climate Action at the UNSDG Achievement Awards, presented by the Green Council in Hong Kong, honours our contribution to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action. This recognition highlights our efforts to reduce emissions while keeping sustainable products affordable for our customers. The Sustainable Supply Chain Partnership Award – Hong Kong at the ESGBusiness Awards celebrates our commitment to sustainability across Asia – reducing emissions throughout the value chain through innovative technology, robust monitoring, and a collaborative, people-centric approach that empowers farmers and supply chain partners. Our DFI Low-Carbon Rice programme was spotlighted for pioneering low-emission rice farming in Thailand. Supported by the Thai government, university experts, supplier Toumi, and local farmers, the pilot has achieved at least 30% lower GHG emissions in rice fields compared to conventional farming while maintaining rice quality and yield. Sustainability isn’t just a goal – it’s a journey we take together. Let’s continue driving meaningful change for our communities, our planet, and future generations.
From coffee to crops to convenient meals – 7-Eleven Hong Kong is scaling hashtag#sustainability from the ground up! Following our award-winning Coffee BOB collaboration with Hong Kong Maxim's Group, we’re now moving into Phase 3 of our Grounds to Green initiative – Grounds to Goodness – deepening our partnership with Maxim’s and teaming up with #WeGenFarming for the first time to advance #regenerativeagriculture at scale. In this innovative step, hashtag#7CAFÉ #coffeegrounds are transformed into enzymes and natural fertiliser to grow pesticide-free local produce – which is then crafted into #7SELECT ready-to-eat meals, including meal boxes and soup. 🌱🥗 This is #circulareconomy in action – reducing waste, supporting local farms, and making #sustainablechoices more accessible and affordable for everyone. We’ll keep scaling the programme with our partners – expanding its reach, deepening impact, and bringing even more responsible choices into everyday life. By combining our network, partner expertise, and customer support, we’re creating real, lasting impact for a greener future.
October marks World Mental Health Day, reminding us of the importance of #holisticwellbeing – mental, physical, social, and financial. This year, we proudly continued our long-standing commitment as a Diamond Sponsor of the Walk Up Jardine House charity event in Hong Kong. This iconic 49-floor race brings together individuals and organisations to raise funds and awareness for hashtag#mentalhealth initiatives in our local community. A huge shout-out to our incredible team members who took on the 49-floor climb last Sunday. 🎉Congratulations to #Wellcome Ops for winning the Men's Relay and taking home the Rose Bowl as the fastest relay team! Hats off to #yuu for clinching the Women's Relay title and kudos to #ManningsGNC for securing the Men’s Individual Champion! 🏆 👏Thank you to all participants – both in the virtual and physical races – for being part of this meaningful cause. 💙 Mental health matters. This October, we’ve focused on holistic wellbeing across our organisation. From awareness workshops to wellness activities, we’re building a culture where support is always within reach. Because when we say #PeopleLed, we mean it — inside and outside the workplace.
We’re proud to share that 7-Eleven Hong Kong & Macau’s “Grounds to Green” Coffee Grounds Upcycling Programme has recently received the Circular Economy Award – Hong Kong and the Initiative Award – Hong Kong (Upcycling) at the ESGBusiness Awards 2025 – a respected regional awards event honouring businesses across Asia that demonstrate exceptional ESG commitment and results. Grounds to Green turns waste into value by mobilising our store and logistics network with community partners. Used 7CAFÉ coffee grounds are collected and – with Foodlink Foundation and Senior Buddy Charity Farm – converted into organic compost to grow fresh produce. NGO partners then use those crops to prepare nutritious meals for people in need, creating a sustainable cycle of care. In its first year, Grounds to Green targets recycling up to 1.2 million cups’ worth of grounds, potentially avoiding around 19,256 kg of greenhouse-gas emissions and supporting 10,000 meals. We’re also extending the loop from grounds to goods – from Coffee BOB craft beer with Hong Kong Maxim's Group’s Group and Farm to Table 7-SELECT juices, to three new 7-SELECT Ready-to-Eat items made with vegetables grown in partnership with WeGen farming. We’re grateful for this recognition, which encourages us to further broaden the initiative and grow this cycle of care so more customers can make sustainable choices every day.
We dedicate September as the month to celebrate our sustainability journey with the theme, “Sustainability – Today, Tomorrow, Together”. Over 3,000 team members across our markets united for 32 events, from engaging tea chats to impactful community initiatives, bringing our vision for a sustainable future to life. Our focus centred on three pillars: hashtag#People: Launched the Sustainability Academy on DFILEARN, our internal learning platform, empowering team members to upskill and drive transformation. hashtag#Products: Showcased sustainable choices at our Sustainable Product Tasting Session, featuring canapés made with our own brand products like Yu Pin King low-carbon rice, Meadows canned tuna and IKEA plant-based meatballs. hashtag#Planet: Planted 1,500 palm trees in Cambodia, toured our CO₂-refrigerant supermarket in Hong Kong, and championed campaigns like “Bring Your Own Reusable Container” and “Trash-to-Treasure” Challenge. Every action this month showed sustainability is a mindset, a movement, and a way of working. Let’s carry this energy forward, embedding sustainability in how we design, source, operate, and collaborate—together shaping a greener future!
