ERM welcomes the adoption of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) by the European Parliament this week. It is a great milestone for human and environmental rights and raises the bar for thousands of businesses on responsible business conduct. Once it is enforced, the CSDDD will mandate large companies with significant activities in the EU to conduct human rights and environmental due diligence in their operations and across their chains of activities. It is never too early to start preparing. Our CSDDD Policy Alert is here to help companies take their next steps. We highlight everything your company needs to know about the Directive and some key highlights from our human rights and environmental specialists.
The driving force for our ERM Foundation remains the passion of our employees, who commit their time and professional expertise through technical reviews, pro bono work, volunteering, and fundraising. So, to celebrate Earth Day this year, we are launching the ERM Foundation Annual Report 2024, which summarizes our people's impact across a range of fantastic organizations and causes at the intersection of climate change, nature, and sustainable livelihoods. The work of the Foundation is funded by ERM, which is further supported by employee donations. The Foundation distributes funding across the world, focusing on projects and initiatives within communities or across regions where our support is most needed. Last fiscal year, the ERM Foundation had the opportunity to support 49 organizations across the globe, and we will be continuing to support both established and pilot projects where we can best leverage our technical expertise in combination with grant funding in the year ahead. Flexibility at work involves acknowledging that everyone has unique work styles and personal responsibilities. For some employees, this flexibility is absolutely crucial to manage their life outside of work effectively. For example, our colleague Corrine Buckmaster, Managing Geophysical Consultant, appreciates the opportunity to work part-time and choose whether to work from home or the office, as it allows her to make the most out of her time. “Flexibility is doubly important when you have a young family to work around. If someone is unwell or something comes up, I can arrange my schedule to accommodate it. As long as my team is kept informed, they know when and where to find me!” Learn more about what it’s like to work at ERM: www.erm.com/careers #LifeAtERM #ERMCareers #FlexibilityAtWork

One of the core goals of the ERM Foundation is to invest in women’s livelihoods in the green economy. Which is why, following on from International Women’s Day, we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate women like Lucie. Lucie Mukandoli is a field supervisor with Kotimir, an Africa Development Promise Co-Operative, who specialize in growing and selling mangoes, avocados, and fruit seedlings in Rwanda. Eager for the opportunity to take part in an Integrated Pest Management training program, Kotimir recognized the need for a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to mealybugs that infest their fruit trees. They selected Lucie to lead this initiative as the IMP facilitator. She underwent a comprehensive five month training program, during which she gained invaluable knowledge about a wide range of IPM technologies to significantly enhance Kotimir’s ability to protect their fruit and seedlings. The ERM Foundation is a proud supporter of Africa Development Promise.
