Micron Breaks Ground on Childcare Center in Idaho as Part of Idaho Community Investment Framework Micron Technology, Inc. one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies and the only U.S.-based manufacturer of memory, will break ground at the future site of its Childcare Center in Idaho and formalize the Idaho Community Investment Framework today, alongside Idaho Governor Brad Little and Boise Mayor Lauren McLean. The Idaho Community Investment Framework reflects the shared priorities Micron and its partners have identified to lead inclusive growth across the state. Micron’s previously announced plans to invest $15 billion through the end of the decade to construct a new fab for leading-edge memory manufacturing in Boise, Idaho, was made possible by the anticipated federal grants and tax credits from the CHIPS and Science Act. This will be the first new memory manufacturing fab built in the U.S. in 20 years and is expected to create nearly 17,000 Idaho jobs.
The demand for edge computing is growing rapidly. Edge computing offers fast processing, quick data insights, and the ability to take the strain off networks. ‘Memory’ and ‘Chip’: Meet the Syracuse Zoo’s New Elephants. These adorable Asian elephant twins, pictured above with parents Mali and Doc, were recently born at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, New York, near the site of Micron’s future leading-edge memory megafab. The zoo asked the public to name the “miracle twins,” and two Micron-themed names (In Hindi, “Yaad” means “memory” and “Tukada” means “chip”) came out winners.

One of Micron’s six DEI commitments is strengthening our culture of inclusion. While we still have opportunities for improvement, Micron has made many efforts to create a welcoming workplace for the LGBTQ+ community. Here are a few ways how: - We’re members of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, advocates for the expansion of nondiscrimination policies nationwide. - We partnered with Out & Equal, supporting global LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion efforts, including inclusive hiring practices. - We’ve introduced benefits to address the needs of LGBTQ+ team members in the U.S., including a service that helps identify medical provider resources attuned to specific needs. We won’t stop working to make Micron an inclusive and equitable place for LGBTQ+ team members. Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈
