Our latest Veteran Salute features Site Supervisor Toby Roberts of the Roanoke region. Toby joined the Sunstates Security team when services were transitioned to us at the large, high-traffic facility in Kingsport, TN, in 2021. Toby is deeply familiar with the site; he has been working as a member of the security team there since 2001. In addition to his industry knowledge, Toby’s eight years in the military gave him valuable tools that help him in the contract security field. Toby served five years on active duty with the Army and three years in the National Guard. When asked about his experience with Sunstates, Toby highlighted the company's hands-on approach, positive culture, and strong support system. He expressed gratitude for feeling valued and cared for. Thank you, Toby, for your dedication to your site and our company and for your years of service. Sunstates partners with the ESGR and is actively hiring those who served. Kudos to these team members in the Orlando region who were tremendous assets for their site during a hurricane. At this residential community, team members volunteered to stay on-site to support our client and its residents. Their efforts were recognized with a special appreciation lunch hosted by the client. Also, during the appreciation lunch, the client recognized the entire team for a job well done in many aspects of their rapidly changing community and acknowledged George Perez as the Officer of the Quarter at the site.
We had four enthusiastic team members travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to support a client event. Their willingness to assist and ensure a smooth security operation in another area is greatly appreciated. Thank you to Enjess Jacobs, Christine Taylor, Pamela Mullins, and Chasity Ballard.

Regional Manager Michael Hando handed out Employee of the Month Awards for the Newark Region. Supervisor Awal Salifu: After completing Army Basic Training and joining the NJ National Guard, Awal seamlessly transitioned to his role at Sunstates. When his original site closed, he quickly adapted and took on a new leadership position. His commitment to excellence and ability to train new officers have been invaluable to our team. Officer Aaron Fernandez: In a short time, Officer Fernandez has made a significant impact. His prior experience in logistics and trucking has been instrumental in his success. His leadership skills and dedication to his team have earned him recognition as Officer of the Month for September and a well-deserved promotion to Site Supervisor.
A doctor at one of our client hospitals in Bowling Green, Ohio, recently sent a letter commending two of our team members for their exceptional care and compassion in assisting a child with special needs. He stated, "It is with pleasure and gratitude that I am reaching out due to the amazing services that two of your security guards exemplified this afternoon and wanted to recognize them for going above and beyond what I would consider their normal duties. I had the wonderful opportunity to witness the handling of a situation that could have been much more difficult, but the two guards, Zach and Chase, handled it with ease and great kindness. Officer Chase Steffes and Supervisor Zachary Taylor were presented with challenge coins for their exceptional response from Operations Manager Robert Allen (photographed with them).
