      Recruiter Interview

      17 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Airbnb in Mar 2016

      Interview

I was contacted by an Airbnb recruiter and was told I had been referred by someone, but he didn't provide a name. This initial conversation was good and the recruiter told me that he would be scheduling me with the hiring manager for an additional interview. I had to contact that same recruiter a week later because I hadn't heard anything. He was apologetic and got me scheduled fairly quickly after that. The interview with the hiring manager was brief and it felt like she had made up her mind well before she even spoke with me by phone. She then indicated there were other candidates farther along than me and also asked me about my willingness to relocate more than once (I was an out of state candidate). At the end of the "interview" she told me that the recruiter I initially spoke with would be in contact soon to let me know next steps. After a few weeks of not hearing back I AGAIN reached out to the recruiter. He was AGAIN apologetic and said that he thought I had been told that someone else was hired into the role. Hmmm....no, that's typically YOUR job to notify YOUR candidates. All in all, it was a very disappointing and confusing experience. I have no idea who referred me and I have no idea why they contacted me when it seemed like they already had a few candidates they were considering. I've been an Airbnb host for several years and have excellent reviews... you'd think they'd consider their treatment of at least those types of candidates a bit more carefully. Good way to lose hosts AND customers (I'm exploring my options and plan to take the advertising for my rental elsewhere).

      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at Airbnb (Portland, OR)

      Interview

Went into the pdx office for an in person interview. Was given a tour and was asked to meet with a culture ambassador. Which I thought was weird. The interviewer asked me a lot of different questions and I answered the best I could at the end. He said that he felt like he didn’t really know me personally and in my mind, I thought to myself well maybe you should’ve asked me questions that would help you answer that thought of how can I get to know this guy better personally.

      Question 1

I was asked multiple question regarding my approach to recruiting and achievements. But then the interviewer told me they felt they didn’t know me. It was very weird.

      Application

      I interviewed at Airbnb (Singapore)

      Interview

All interview rounds were smooth and well-informed. Everyone was clear on what they were looking for, and I had fun speaking with them. Got to know more about the company, 2 rounds of core values

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Airbnb (Bengaluru) in Oct 2024

      Interview

Recruiter screen, followed by 2 rounds of interviews with senior folks in recruiting. Fully remote role hence online interviews. Interviews were scheduled fairly soon but the feedback took forever to come through. Recruiting coordinator was very weird and rude throughout the process. Was an entitled coordinator by the looks of it. Had no idea about the interview rounds or process.
