      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CGI (Birmingham, England) in Jul 2014

      Interview

The whole process was fairly easy and in its entirety will be driven by the applicants desire to get the job. The interviewer's will sit back and expect the applicant to drive forward conversation or the activity. Firstly on completing the application and if successful to the next round you will be asked to participate in online SHL tests. The tests in question will be the logic test and a test which requires you to read a passage of a fictional case study and answer questions on the validity of statements made by the questions by the use of True and False answers. The next step was a telephone interview. This interview goes through your application but its main purpose is to determine your interest in the role and reiterate that the role may involve travelling, so as a means to scope your flexibility. Its not a telephone interview but included general questions about qualifications achieved, when you can start, job offered and location, etc. If successful you will have another telephone call confirming a place on assessment day which will be followed up by further details via email. You are also asked to write a report on an upcoming technology that interests you and may be used by CGI. Assessment day involved 60 minute Competency based interview. And a group exercise. The interviews format is based on the competency based questions, to the best of my knowledge; Customer focus Resilience Team Work These questions then lead onto why you chose to apply for the role. They expect you to make use of the allocated learning materials. Which will be attached with the email invitation to assessment day. And it won't hurt you to know what CGI is currently doing, in my case it was the 'appeal of working on the Galileo Satellite project.' Again the applicant is the driver of conversation in this part of this assessment. This process also involves questions based around your report. Next up is the group exercise, this exercise is based on reading a problem statement and working as a team to draw up an answer. The particular problem was that you are evacuated from a sinking ship and you are only allowed to take X amount of items on a rubber a dingy. These items are used to survive on a nearby island until help arrives. This is a timed exercise and tests your teamwork, communication and listening skills. CGI provides excellent materials in ensuring your successful in your application, from the kind of questions they may ask you to the quality of your report and how to write it. They also invite you to be active on twitter/Facebook to ask any questions about the interview/job applied for - which undoubtedly will reflect well on assessment day (in my case it did).
