Interview
I was contacted through a consultancy and after my expectations on CTC and role with them and Dell HR interview was scheduled.
Two technical rounds comprising of coding on python, oops concepts, Api questions along with quantitative aptitude were asked and a puzzle in both the rounds.
Following which was managerial round which consisted of again some technical questions, aptitude and logical questions.
After clearing them got a call from senior HR and she discussed about why looking out and other general stuff and was asked to submit my documents for salary negotiation.
After couple of days I got a call from HR that they can offer me around 25% which was way below market standards. I rejected that offer stating I am expecting around 35% min.
After week they sent put an absurd email stating due to ur frequent switches and hike of over 100% in couple of years hiring team can go beyond 25% .
I mean I do have frequent switches but did not have close to 50% hike in more than 2.5 years. Don't know from where the HR got that data.
Dell HR... If you are looking for cheap candidate and not deserving candidates please stop giving vague explanations and wasting time of candidates.
You are incompetent of convincing a candidate so admit it so play by sending out those emails .
You have the data of candidates right from the beginning if frequent switches are issue then you should never shortlist the candidates and of looking for cheap candidates then after discussing the expectations of candidates on salary front you should have guts to say sorry we are tight on budget and never move ahead with the candidate.
This is really so unprofessional from DELL.
They have wasted their employees time along with mine.
Request to the HR team of Dell please look into this and have a word with your team and avoid these kind of behaviour. It will only have negative impact on the company.

Interview
In Bangalore there are at least 4 branches I know of , the one I gave in was for Embassy golf Links (behind macafee). Dell is a huge brand standing high in general and with recent acquisitions as well. The infrastructure of Dell offices in Bangalore is too good.
Despite it's high profile , the Bangalore branches is turning out to be a care free due to may be new set of people putting their settlements in this company with their seniority . To begin with I heard feedback from friends that this interview turning out to be fishmarket as they conduct interviews round the calendar and outsourcing to all consultancies for contract to hire predominantly. The managers and tech round people take you for a ride as they get candidates round the calendar. I was on interview for QA position but the final manager round guy asked me development questions(heard he never selected any candidate for last 3 months). The managers have fun here with candidates life. Dell management in US please take a call on this.
