I applied online. I interviewed at Expedia Group in Oct 2020
Interview
Very straight forward, I liked the recruiter! She explained every step and what to expect. Included a phone screen with the recruiter, followed by a take home challenge that I would have a section dedicated to for the Onsite. In the onsite there were three rounds and typically asked overlapping questions about my expereince, the data challenge, and behavioral.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you taught yourself a new concept
Technical: The interviewer was very nice when I explained that I did not know a particular concept ( I also did second my statement by mentioning what I WOULD do though) We discussed my projects in detail, they presented case questions related to the travel industry and its customers, features to develop, etc.
I applied online. I interviewed at Expedia Group (London, England) in Feb 2026
Interview
First technical assessment: 75 min for Hackerrank generated questions, related to business scenarios that Expedia normally would encounter. multiple SQL Qs + 2 Python Qs + Basic 101 Stats (p-value, type 1, type 2 error, CI)
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Expedia Group (Bengaluru) in Feb 2026
Interview
The interview experience was positive overall. The interviewers were understanding, supportive, and created a comfortable environment for me to share my thinking. The questions were thoughtful and relevant to the role. However, the process was significantly slower than expected — there were long gaps between rounds with little proactive communication, and I had to follow up multiple times to get updates on next steps. Faster communication between stages would greatly improve the candidate experience.
Technical phone screen and then 4 rounds of interviews that covered machine learning, coding, and soft skills. They let me know they were not going to make an offer several weeks after the interview.
