I applied through university. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI) in Dec 2016
Interview
Applied for an interview through university website. Was selected for an on campus interview with two recruiters. Interview consisted of about 5-10 behavioral questions. Ford also asks you to fill out a form to indicate the top 3 engineering departments that you are interested in. Different groups within Ford view this form and your resume to determine whether or not they want to interview you.
A few weeks later I received an email indicating they would like to fly me up to Dearborn, MI for a final interview. This interview consisted of a brief introductory video to Ford, an interview with a panel of three employees from the group that selected me, lunch, and then a tour of the nearby factory.
The interview itself consisted of 5 behavioral questions and 5 "technical" questions, where you are asked to reference past technical experience when answering a question.
The GOOD:
Interviewers were kind and courteous. Environment was relaxed. Ford rolls out the red carpet for your travel, lodging, and food. Very efficient machine.
The BAD:
The group interviewing me was not one of the three I selected on the sheet. I needed to email the recruiter to find out which group was interviewing me, so if they don't tell you initially, email your contact and ask. The interview itself was very (>50%) similar to the interview that I went through on campus, not much new material. Very confused why I needed to fly up to Michigan to conduct essentially an identical interview. There was only about 10 minutes left at the end of the interview for me to ask questions of them. Not nearly enough time if you have more than 3 questions to ask about the company.

Question 1
Name a time when you had to be innovative to solve a problem.
I applied online. I interviewed at Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI) in Dec 2025
Interview
It was a zoom interview and I was paired with two engineers. One of the interviewers was different than I was told. It sounded like the other person that was supposed to join the call had something come up. The did their introductions and I did mine and then proceeded to the questions. The interview was about 45 minutes long.
