They had me do two phone interviews and then they made me create storyboards and concepts for them for 3 different otome games. They gave me a template I was meant to fill out, and provided 0 feedback other than rejection.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Genius (Japan) (Yokohama, Kanagawa)
Interview
From application to first interview there were around 3 emails exchanged.
I have had 3 interviews on 2 separate occasions with this company.
They love to ask you questions about their job, using their own proprietary system.
If you get the 2nd interview they will show you their system, then ask you to play around with it for a minute.
The system is simple, and it is something that if you use it more than twice you could do the job.
However… the company can not make up their mind on whether they want to hire someone or waste someone’s time.
They have a team of over 70% foreigners, but for some reason will not hire a native English speaker for entry level work.
I applied online. I interviewed at Genius (Japan) in Aug 2019
Interview
I was asked create a proposal for a future game, which seemed straightforward enough. We discussed the proposal, as well as my writing experience. I felt it went well, but I believe I was ultimately rejected because they wanted to keep me as a freelance writer and not as someone with more autonomy.

Question 1
I was asked about how much control I'd want over the project and story.
