      Senior Product Manager Interview

      17 Feb 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mill Valley, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Glassdoor (Mill Valley, CA) in Jan 2015

      Interview

Had a fantastic experience interviewing with Glassdoor. Almost a month had passed after sending my resume, and I finally got an email from the recruiting team. They were extremely pleasant and polite to communicate with. I first had a screener call with the Recruiter, two days after receiving her original email. This was a very nice conversation. Reviewed my background and relevant experience. At the end of the call, she said she was going to recommend to the hiring manager that they have the next phone interview with me. That same day, I received an email saying the hiring manager would like to schedule a call. That was scheduled for 2 days later. I had an hour and a half long call with the hiring manager. Everything that was discussed was presently relevant to the company - all in regards to challenges the company is currently facing, and use cases that they are currently making decisions on. He also ran through some of my basic SEO knowledge since that was related to the position. At the end of the call, he also mentioned that he'd like me to come in for a face-to-face round. The next day, the interview coordinator reached out to me to get dates of availability. I am based in Los Angeles, so Glassdoor flew me out, rented a car, and a hotel room nearby for me to come up for in person interviews. I had a full line-up of 5 interviews one after the other, and a team lunch in between. Every person I spoke to seemed genuine, and very happy to be working where they are. It looked like an amazing place and team to be a part of. The one person that was pretty intimidating in the interviews was the CXO (and co-founder). He had a list of random questions intended to gauge level of knowledge and experience on various topics. Questions were unrelated to one another, and were tough to respond to quickly without context, but other than that, overall a very very pleasant experience.

      Interview

Recruiting team is very important during the interview process since they are the main contact in the company. And Glassdoor's recruiter team is a huge disappointment to be honest. I got the email from recruiter to schedule the 1st phone call. When it was time, noone called. I've waited, emailed multiple times to recruiter and no answer at all. Then i decided to reschedule so i'd still have a date. Days passed, still no answer.. when the rescheduled day came, I reached out again to confirm if we still have a call. She finally responded with a yes. I got the call 15 mins late and got a very rushed chat. Then the regular interview process started. All was standard. When all rounds are done, ~2 days later, I got an automatic "no-reply" email saying that they are not going to be putting an offer. Sure, no offer is fine not bothered by that. How it's done was disappointing! When you talk to candidate and both invest your time through process, you can easily write a personalized email that explains the situation.

I am so sorry that you had such a bad experience and I can see why you were disappointed. I am very grateful that you took the time to interview with Glassdoor and would be happy to provide you with the feedback. Once again, I do apologize that this experience was so removed from our usual process and I hope we get the chance to show you that this is not the norm for Glassdoor. - Amy Farrar, Head of Talent Acquisition

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Glassdoor in Jul 2021

      Interview

I was introduced to the opportunity through an old co-worker who recently joined Glassdoor, and had preliminary interviews with both the director, and the hiring manager. Besides a small hiccup with recruiting in the beginning, the process was fairly smooth. I met with 5 other members of the team (across product, design and engineering) over the span of two weeks, and received an offer at the beginning of the third week. Everyone was kind, courteous and incredibly transparent.
