      Interview

I interviewed with HubSpot in May 2016. A few days after applying I received an email from Noah with instructions to do the webcam interview-fairly standard questions with a couple curveballs. The day after I got another email asking for availability for the following week to set up a phone interview with Christiaan. She was very engaging and did well to really dig into my answers. Afterwards, I received another email from Noah again asking for me to fill out an availability form (this time for two half hour interviews), instructing me on tasks to complete within a sample HubSpot portal, and also asking for times that I was available for a brief conversation with him to explain the three portal tasks. I responded with a couple times I was able to chat briefly with him but also asked for clarification on when I should fill in my availability in the web form (the first time I was instructed to fill out a form I was given a range of dates). I didn't hear back but the following morning I got an email from Caitlin confirming my two interviews for the next day at 930. Fortunately shortly after that I got a call from Noah and explained the situation to him (he didn't realize the interviews had already been confirmed). He was very understanding of my desire to give myself enough time to do the tasks and prepare for the interviews. After sending him my availability, a new time was chosen. Both interviews (with Nancy and Jim via Hangouts) I thought went very well-they were extremely personable and attentive and seemed engaged in my responses. A few days later I got an email from Noah saying they were moving on with other candidates. After how personaI the process had been, I was surprised to get a short, template-y message from a do-not-reply address with no specific remarks. As I thought the interviews went quite well, I would have enjoyed more specific feedback. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I appreciate all the help from Noah and my interviewers.

Thank you for the feedback and the thoughtful review--we always struggle with volume and the inherently human nature of an interview process, so thanks for pointing out one area of communication where we can continue to improve. I am glad to hear that the remainder of your interview process went well-thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and taking the time to chat with our team, we deeply appreciate it! -Katie

      Interview

I had a 3-step interview process that consisted of a brief phone call followed by a zoom demo consisting (quick chat and mock customer support call) and finished it off with an on-site 2 hour interview with 3 managers. The whole process was quick and efficient with awesome hiring managers that were very communicative and responsive. I had an awesome experience and would recommend anyone on the job hunt to apply to HubSpot.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at HubSpot (Boston, MA) in Oct 2019

      Interview

They were looking to hire quickly - so the process was expedited. Interviewed late one week, and was interviewing in-person in the middle of the next week. (I am not local, I drove 6+ hours to be there) They had me interview with a few different people. Most of them were very pleasant. (Especially Caroline Ostrander & Lauren DeSoiza. Lauren in particular was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.) One of them, a former Apple Store manager, was not. Ultimately, the day after the in-person interview I was informed via e-mail that I was not offered the job. Disappointing, but not the end of the world. In the e-mail, I was told that they would provide some feedback on my interview performance if I wanted it. I figured that might be useful so I obliged. I e-mailed my HR contact asking for interview feedback. No response. I waited 7 days, and e-mailed him again. He replied this time and apologized, stating that he was very busy and got caught up with some other things. Okay. He gave me a date and time when he would call me back the next day. No call. I e-mailed again. No response. I attempted to call him a few times and left a message. No response. And each time I called, his phone went directly to voicemail, no matter the time of day I was calling. Not entirely sure why they say they offer interview feedback if they are obviously not actually interested in providing it. That and Apple store manager guy really soured me on my experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked a lot about customer service experience naturally. Also had me do a demo exercise with their website. It's been a little while, so I don't remember many specific questions that were asked.

      Interview

Be ware! Things will move along quickly and then all of a sudden come to a halt. They pride themselves on having a great company culture but overlook highly qualified candidates who possess a substantial education and willingness to learn. The process is thought to be great initially when you go through the interviews and they will move you along. If one of the managers doesn't care for your style of answering questions or is intimidated by you, good luck moving on and getting an offer from the last round. Very false facade of what they preach and actually represent.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review and I'm sorry that you felt that your interview experience wasn't consistent throughout. Our goal is to be incredibly thoughtful about the methods by which we evaluate candidates' fit for the role, including considering feedback from a cross-section of interviewers with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Any decision made would be inclusive of the entire interview team, and includes a thorough debrief process. Regardless, I want to ensure our team is learning from candidates' experiences and will be sure you take your feedback back to the team. Thanks so much for investing the time to interview with us and best of luck in your next steps. Best, Becky
