I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HubSpot in Mar 2023
Interview
A very long process optimized for candidates who can go through a very long, drawn out process, not necessarily for the best candidates. First, there is a coding assessment they want you to spend three hours on. Then a recruiter interview followed by a hiring manager interview. Then a take-home project they want you to block off five (!) hours for. Then a presentation in front of five junior and senior technical members of the team . That's the gateway to four more interviews.
The bright spot in the interview process is that the recruiter was great in communicating, and very helpful in the process, and there was personal feedback at the end. The fact there was feedback was helpful, the actual feedback was too generalized and dismissive to be helpful.

Question 1
A straight-forward data problem where you grab the data from an API, manipulate the data, and post it back to see if the manipulation was done correctly.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Boston, MA) in Jan 2022
Interview
Had an initial screener with HR, went well and work culture seems very healthy. Second round was with a higher up. Conversation was good and mainly focused about past experience which I thought was relevant but was apparently not enough for their needs.
I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in May 2019
Interview
Scheduled a screening interview over the phone with the recruiter. She called on time but was audibly annoyed and irritated from start to finish. She came across as angry with actually having to speak with me. What should have been an easy interview (I was literally a perfect match to the listed qualifications) was a terrible experience that left me wondering what the actual hiring criteria were.

Whether I had managed a team OR was I an individual contributor
Hi there, I'm sorry you had such a negative experience with our team and were made to feel like your candidacy was nothing more than an annoyance. We care deeply about taking feedback like this and turning it into actionable learnings for our team, so appreciate you sharing it (however painful it is to read) so that we can work with our recruiters on the importance of how we each show up to our interactions with candidates.
Best,
Becky
