Many interviews, both for external and internal positions, use the Behavioral Interviewing technique. I have both used this myself and have been subjected to it. Here you ask your interviewee for a speecific example of what he or she did to show the experience you are looking for. As an interviewer, you dive into the example given to determine exactly what the candidate did (not other team members). Below is how this was used for an interview I had a few years back.
