I applied online. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Dallas, TX) in Mar 2026
Interview
I first had an initial recruiter call where she explained that the overall process would take about two months and shared a HackerRank assessment as the next step. After passing the HackerRank, I had four interview rounds.
The first two rounds were virtual. The first virtual round was with a Principal Data Scientist I who asked me relatively straightforward data science questions in a HackerRank environment and had me debug and fix code errors live. The second virtual round was with a Partner, who focused on a case study where I had to walk through my structured approach and solution strategy rather than just giving an answer.
The third stage was an onsite round at the Dallas office; the company covered travel and accommodation, including flights, hotel, meals, and local transportation. This onsite interview was with a Principal Data Scientist II, who asked detailed questions from my resume and then gave me a manufacturing-focused case study involving building a time series forecasting solution for a production plant. Overall, the process was structured, case-heavy, and combined both technical and business-oriented evaluations.

I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (New York, NY)
Interview
Applied online. Four rounds over several weeks: recruiter phone screen, PEI + TEI (behavioral and technical deep dive), a problem-solving case, and two final round PEI + PSS sessions with senior interviewers on consecutive days. Process was structured and professional. Heavy emphasis on structured communication and business framing over pure technical depth. No offer after finals.
