After a pleasant first meeting with a well-spoken associate employee, I was brought in for a follow-up interview with management. I sat in conference room as CEO walked in staring at his phone. He looked up and asked, "So you write?" I briefly explained that yes, I have experience writing content, etc. He let me talk for about 10 seconds before asking salary requirements. When I told him I currently make 53k, he replied that this position is an entry level. Without making eye contact, he muttered, "too much" and walked out the door. No response. No eye contact. No handshake. Nothing. As I sat there gathering my things alone in a conference room of a strange office, I wondered if he had even looked at my resume. Had he done so, he may have seen that my experience is not, in fact, entry level, and therefore, my salary requirements would never be.
