      Interview

Greetings, fellow readers! I am Samarth Shukla, a final-year Electrical Engineering student at NIT Agartala (2020-2024). Today, I am thrilled to share my incredible intern interview experience with Oracle. Oracle conducted a campus recruitment drive at our college (August 2023) , offering opportunities for Associate Software Engineer role in both the CGBU (Communication Global Business Unit) and the FBGBU (Food and Beverage Global Business Unit) units [Location- Gurgaon , Bangalore, Hyderabad]. The interview process consisted of the following stages: Online Assessment (OA): On July 31, 2023, there was an Online Assessment which served as the initial screening process for shortlisting candidates. The OA consisted of 2 medium-to-hard Data Structure and Algorithm (DSA) questions and 1 question on API. Pre-placement Talk: Those shortlisted from the OA were invited for the on-campus interviews on August 4, 2023. The day began with a pre-placement talk to introduce Oracle and provide insights into the roles they were offering. Technical Round 1: The first technical round started with the interviewer asking me to introduce myself. They inquired about the projects mentioned in my resume deeply and then presented a Data Structure and Algorithm (DSA) question related to strings and maps. Additionally, I was asked to write SQL queries and discuss object-oriented programming concepts like classes, polymorphism, and inheritance along with their codes. This round had a duration of 40–45 minutes. Technical Round 2: In the second technical round, the interviewer introduced themselves and asked me for a comprehensive introduction covering my educational background, technical skills, projects, and other experiences. Following this, they delved into more Computer Science fundamentals, and I was asked 3 DSA questions involving doubly linked lists, singly linked lists, and arrays. For each question, I had to analyze space and time complexities. For the array question, I was expected to provide three optimized approaches. The interviewer also inquired about double shift operators, virtual functions, and how to store given information in a database. This round lasted for 50–60 minutes. Technical + HR Round: The third round was a blend of technical and HR questions. The interviewer asked me to introduce myself once again and inquired about my family background. They then asked me to explain my project in detail and how I utilized AWS (Amazon Web Services) for it. Moreover, the interviewer presented various scenarios and asked how I would approach different situations to solve problems. Additionally, I was questioned about various technologies, including protocols, IP addresses, HTTP, differences between 5G and 4G, why I chose Flutter over React, and why I wanted to work at Oracle. They also asked about my expectations from the company. Towards the end of the round, I was given the opportunity to ask questions. The duration of this round was 40–45 minutes. Tips for Aspiring Candidates: Based on my experience, I would advise candidates to focus on strengthening their knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOPs), database management systems (DBMS), SQL, and data structures and algorithms (DSA). It is essential to be well-prepared with your resume, projects, and technical skills. Having a positive attitude and being familiar with Oracle's products and technologies can also be advantageous.
