      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at P3 Adaptive in Oct 2024

      Interview

Overall I had a great experience interviewing for P3! After submitting an initial application, I received an email explaining a simulated consulting project I needed to complete. Anyone who applies has the chance to submit a project and have it be reviewed by a human being. That felt fair and refreshing in a world where resumes increasingly get filtered out by AI! If you submit a correct solution for the project, you’ll be contacted for an interview. The first round is like an HR-style initial screening, and the last round is a more technical interview. I’ve seen some comments online saying that the project was unfair or too hard - that was not my experience at all. I actually had fun working on it and thought it was a clever and effective way to do a technical assessment. I’d definitely encourage anyone who’s interested in P3 to apply.

      Interview

After I sent my application, I received an invitation to complete an intensive skills assessment project. It was a bit of work and took some time, but it was understandable that they needed it done in order to adequately evaluate applicants. After my assessment project was reviewed I had an interview with the hiring manager. I followed up about two weeks later and received a response that they had "approved me for hire", but that they had already filled their most recently available slots. I followed up regularly for a few months, and the last time I did they said they were ready to make an offer. It took a while, but they were honest, transparent, and responsive. I was thrilled to receive the offer.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at P3 Adaptive in Aug 2024

      Interview

Consider carefully before applying to P3. I’m a skilled Power BI engineer, and I spent over 16 hours on their skills test — and that’s using a template I had already developed in a previous enterprise role. The design work alone had taken me over 20 hours before that. Despite this, my experience with P3 was disappointing from the start. The first thing they will do is essentially lie to you, asking you to replicate inaccurate results, which wasted valuable time and is not a good first impression. After some back-and-forth, I finally received the correct information and completed the test within the 3-week timeframe. I even went above and beyond, providing them with a Power BI training app I had created. The first interview consisted of generic, outdated questions like “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” and “What’s your greatest weakness?” which, at this level, feels like a waste of time. It reflected poorly on their HR process. The second interview with a manager was more relevant, focusing on my experience and consulting skills, and I left with the impression that I was a strong candidate. However, despite being told they didn’t have enough work at the moment but would reach out when they did, I was later informed via email that I was no longer being considered for the role, without any explanation. I reached out for feedback, given the time and effort I invested in the process, but received none. It feels as though the entire exercise was a way to obtain free, high-quality Power BI work they could use. If you're considering applying, weigh the potential lack of return on your investment of time and effort carefully.
