I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Protiviti in Feb 2014
Interview
Pre interview dinner the night before. There were a lot of new, young hires that were very passionate about Protiviti. They were all very friendly. Dinner was the typical get to know you before the interview. It definitely helped to calm the nerves.
Interview consisted of 30 minute behavioral and 30 minute case interviews. Case interview was given to us, in part, the night before. The rest of the prompt was given to us during the interview. Behavioral and case interview were both with senior staff. They were very professional and not as friendly as the reps at the dinner.
HR called the same day as the interview to set up second round.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Protiviti (Alexandria, VA) in Jan 2015
Interview
Approached by a recruiter on behalf of Protiviti I had two phone interviews followed by an in person interview which I had my expenses paid for a day. The last interview was with four managers including the final with a managing partner. It was a mixed bag with the interviewers as far as personality and candor. One was quite combative in questioning, another pleasant, another uniform, while yet another unprepared in my honest opinion. No offer was extended, no feedback.

After the phone interviews I had an in-office interview with 1 peer, 1 manager, and the Managing Director. 1 person talked about the environment/corp. culture. 1 person discussed/vetted my subject matter knowledge. 1 person talked about why I want to join the firm and what I plan to bring to the table vs. what I would want the firm to provide in return.
