There were two conversations, in person, with the technical lead and the executive running the show. There was no phone screen. The technical lead accused me of not writing my own cover letter less than 5 minutes into the conversation. The rest of the interview was a series of specific questions about the current business they were in, the goals for the position going forward, and expectations about growing the client base. This portion of the interview took about 35-40 minutes. I then interviewed with the executive lead at the company. They asked me several illegal questions about my family, my home life, and specific details of my salary at my current employer (illegal in the state of Massachusetts). The executive also continued to press about client building and what clients I could bring to the business, outside the scope of the job description and not within my stated skillset. After being asked about my salary requirements, the executive politely concluded the interview. This portion took about 10 minutes. An office administrator reached out to me after a day or two and explained that they were moving in a different direction with the position. The job posting remained up and unchanged for an additional 4 months.
