I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2018
Interview
Three phone calls with the senior managers on the team - one of the calls involved an interview role play. After the phone calls, I was invited into the Toronto office and met with a Talent Acquisition Manger on the team, the Managing Director in the office, and my future manager. Following the interviews, I went out for a a happy hour with the rest of the recruiters on the team and a hiring manager I would be working closely with. The interview process was great, it was nice meeting people I would be working with in a formal and informal setting. The lead recruiter was great at providing feedback and providing meaningful information to prepare me for my conversations.

Interview
I was approached my Slaloms executive recruiting team for a brand new role.
The first stage moved very quickly speaking with their US team and then came onsite for an interview with their recruiter.
From there I met with the practice lead and spent over 1.5 hours on site.
I then spoke with the MD for another 45 minutes.
I heard back from the recruiter straight away saying it was all really positive and they wanted to close it out and get an offer on the tablet.
This is where my experience turned poor -2.5 weeks went by with no word, no returned emails, no calls, no updates. I finally had a text message from their recruiter to say that they'd moved forward with another candidate.
Poor candidate experience.
Thank you for taking a minute to share your feedback. We're sorry to read that what started out as a positive experience turned out otherwise in the end due to poor timing and misleading expectations in our communications with you. And a text message in the end after a delay in waiting to hear back is certainly poor form, and not the quality experience we aim to deliver our candidates. As a recruiter you know doubt understand the importance of a quality candidate experience, so we appreciate you sharing this feedback - it will help us to continuously improve. And thank you for considering opportunities with Slalom.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Austin, TX) in Jan 2020
Interview
The interview process at Slalom was rather lengthy but enjoyable. A large part of the reason it takes longer is due to the fact that they place a premium on hiring the right talent. Personally, I really enjoyed each step of the process and found the interviews to be very conversational. Everyone I interacted with was super friendly and professional - I felt really supported. They frequently asked me what I needed throughout the process, which I appreciated. I felt that they really cared about my experience going through the process and there was a lot of transparency every step of the way. Out of all the job interviews I've sat through in my ~8-year career, theirs were the most enjoyable.

If you had to stand up a recruiting process from scratch, how would you go about it?
Thank you for the commitment to our interview process and the feedback. We agree that hiring talent is a top priority and want each of our candidates to feel supported during the process. We are glad to hear that came through and that you've joined our Talent team!
