      Analyst Interview

      28 Jun 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Tableau Software

      Interview

Fine experience, good chat. Not much to it, not enough opportunity to display how or why you are a good candidate. Does seem like a waste when there's a lack of communication on their end.

      Analyst Interview

      31 Oct 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Newcastle, WA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tableau Software (Newcastle, WA)

      Interview

I was called by the recruiter for a short conversation about the role and my background. A phone call with the Hiring Manager was setup a few days after. Then an onsite interview with 5 people. I got an email to come back for another interview with management. The recruiter was responsive and saying they’re still going over the candidate list. However, I got an email the following week that they selected another candidate. After a few weeks, the same position opened and I asked the recruiter if I can apply again for the role and I never got a reply. After another follow up, still never got a reply. I never got a response from the Hiring Manager as well.

      Analyst Interview

      12 Sept 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Seattle, WA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tableau Software (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

Submitted an application on their website, along with an employee reference from a mutual friend who worked there. After a couple of weeks, I received an email from a recruiter notifying me that they would like to schedule me for a phone interview to see if I'd be interested in interviewing for the position. The recruiter ended up having to reschedule the phone interview a couple times, but eventually we were able to connect. My recruiter asked what my expected salary for the role was, what my experience was, and if I would be available to relocate for the position. After answering these questions (and giving me the opportunity to ask questions as well), my recruiter let me know I would hear back from him soon regarding if I would be moving forward in the interview process. About a week later, I received another email letting me know they were interested in scheduling a phone interview between myself and the hiring manager. We picked a time, and within a week I had a thirty minute phone call with the hiring manager. He asked about my experience (school, work, and in the field), work and collaboration expectations, why I thought I was qualified for the position, ect. Afterwards he let me know that they would let me know if I would be moving forward with the interview process. Within a few days I was informed (can't remember if it was a phonecall or email) that I was invited to fly out to Seattle for an on campus interview; a part of my interview process would be a presentation of a "homework" project. Again, I don't remember the particulars, but another recruiter from Tableau reached out to me help set up the details for my flight; they were very friendly, helpful, and flexible. I flew out on an late afternoon, stayed in a hotel that night, took a cab to Tableau's campus for the interviews, and then flew back home that same day. All of this was on Tableau's dime. I met my recruiter at Tableau's campus, who helped me prep for my interviews, as well as showed me to the room. There was a slight mix up (our room for the interviews wasn't booked), but the people at Tableau sorted it out quickly and made sure I was comfortable during the brief wait. After that was sorted out, I had four one-on-one interviews with various people at Tableau who were either directly on the team I was interviewing for, or worked very closely with it. The majority of the questions were either behavioral topics/scenarios, or questions regarding my resume. The closest I came to any skill demonstration during these interviews was a question inquirying to the nature of my SQL experience. After these interviews, I had to give a presentation over a home work assignment I had been giving before I came out to Seattle. This presentation was given before everyone I had interviewed with earlier. I went through my presentation, and fielded questions throughout. Afterwards, they thanked me for coming out to interview, and my recruiter ensured I met with my taxi to back to my hotel. Everyone I'd met with at Tableau had been very friendly, offered a chance to grab snack or use the restroom between interviews. Overall, the entire process took more or less four hours. I heard back within a week, from the hiring manager, that, while they couldn't go into more detail just then, they were still going through an internal process regarding the final decision on my application. Within another week, I received a phone call from both my recruiter and hiring manager with an offer. They listed the benefits and salary associated with the position, and were up front that there was no negotiating on these. I told them then that I accepted their offer.
