      User Experience Designer Interview

      9 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at The Predictive Index in Sept 2019

      Interview

Screening process pre-interview, working with a recruiter, this entailed multiple phone calls (about 5-6) in preparation for the role, info about the company, what to expect. The problem came when I had to take their test. It's split between behavioral and cognitive. I get it: This is their product, so they use it as part of their assessment of their product. However, the cognitive test, as said by the recruiter, is far easier and and more geared toward non-creatives. Also, as I researched later on, there are "ways" to take this test, or strategies, that produce a better score, which I wasn't aware of before I took it. In short, I apparently failed the cognitive test (I was also not told that it was something that could produce a "failing" result - I thought it was show one's strengths in one cognitive area over another,) and all of my qualifications for the job are now ignored. An extremely strange way to vet candidates - i.e., your qualifications that were interesting are now voided because of a test - and I have to say as I look at it now, not a place I'd like to work for.
