I was contacted by the recruiter from Uber, we set up the interview date. The interviewer was a data scientist who has been working there for 3 years. Everything was professional and not stressful at all, the recruiter gave many useful tips.
Suppose we use push notifications to convert Uber riders to Uber Eats users. How do we determine what kind of people get annoyed by the push notifications?
The process was smooth and well organized. A recruiter initially reached out, followed by a first round consisting of two interviews—one with the team manager and another with a data scientist, both engaging and informative.
Failed at technical screening round. Recruiter told me I will be tested on SQL, but I got tested on Python as well. Did not prepare well for that interview and didn't get moved forward
Recruiter Screen: High-level background and culture fit.
Technical Screen: Live coding (SQL window functions and Python/R) focused on data manipulation.
Virtual Onsite "Loop": Five rounds covering A/B Testing (network effects), Product Case Studies (Uber-specific metrics), ML System Design (ETA or pricing models), and Coding.
