I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at United Actuarial Services (Carmel, IN) in Jul 2023
Interview
I found the position on Handshake. The application there included a simple Excel skills screening. After, I had a quick interview with an HR person, which was friendly and relaxed. He asked me some basic questions about my prior work experience and education and outlined the details of the position. Next, the HR person passed along my application to the actuarial team, who decided they wanted to see me in person. That involved some timed tests in Excel (very basic - think summing and averaging and formatting), an analytical thinking test, and writing a mock business letter. Since that went well, I got to meet with three members of the actuarial team. They were quite friendly and it was a nice back and forth. Never felt uncomfortable or even very nervous. They asked some simple questions to make sure I knew what actuarial science involved and so on. I ended up getting the offer the same day, and the entire process took less than a week. Tip: Prepare, prepare. They liked seeing that I read up on their company and work before the interviews.
